Premium Benja Chicken From Thailand Is Now In Singapore! Try It At One-Michelin-Starred Alma by Juan Amador, Goodwood Park Hotel
Most of us are familiar with premium meats such as Wagyu beef and Kurobuta pork, but... Benja Chicken?
UFarm's Benja Chicken is the world's first brown rice-fed chicken that hails from Thailand! Raised in carefully controlled, cage-free farm and fed on brown rice, the chicken is said to boast a rich flavour profile, and is more tender and juicier than the usual chicken meat by 55%! No wonder Benja Chicken is preferred by chefs of Michelin-starred restaurants such as Saneh Jaan, Siam Wisdom, and Paste.
We had our first taste of highly-lauded Benja Chicken here in Singapore at one-Michelin-starred Alma by Juan Amador, and were duly-impressed.

Godmama @ Funan ~ Modern Peranakan Restaurant With Interesting Dishes Like Chap Chye In Prawn Bisque And Longan Red Date Pudding
I'm always excited whenever a new mall opens because... NEW mall = NEW restaurants! Lol!
Even though many of us had gotten weary of the "copy-paste" local retail landscape, there are still many restaurateurs who choose to launch their new concept in these new malls and pique our interest once again.
Take for instance, Godmama, a modern Peranakan restaurant & bar at Funan, the latest lifestyle destination. Co-owner Christina Keilthy left her corporate job to set up Godmama as she wanted to preserve the legacy of her godma's and mama's egg skin popiah, a dish she has been enjoying since childhood.

To mark the commemoration, the restaurant is offering a special dim sum lunch menu that incorporates flavours from local dishes during the months of July and August.

Time to head over to its outlets at Robertson Quay and Suntec City.

Say hello to Frieda!
The relatively-new restaurant located at Arcade @ The Capitol Kempinski Hotel is named after the only daughter of the hotel founder, and offers German fare with a touch of Austrian influence.
It was most fitting that our group was hungry after slaving away at work the whole day, because a hearty menu of premium sausage selections, vintage pork cuts, and pork knuckles is waiting for us!

The Clifford Pier @ The Fullerton Bay Hotel ~ Chef Philip Chia X The Clifford Pier ‘Best of Peranakan Cuisine’ Promotion
Chef Philip Chia is back! This is his third collaboration with The Clifford Pier to bring us a feast of Peranakan signatures re-imagined with modern twist.
As a fourth generation Peranakan, Chef Philip was only six years old when he first stepped in the kitchen to learn the finer points of pounding rempah. Since then, he has gone on to win several culinary competitions, publish cookbooks on Peranakan cuisine, and become a well-respected figure on the local culinary scene.
I missed his cooking for the last two years and is finally able to make it this time.

Sama Sama By Tok Tok @ Jewel Changi Airport ~ Hearty Indonesia Fare With Many Heritage Dishes!
Among the numerous F&B establishments that have opened at Jewel Changi Airport, Sama Sama by Tok Tok counts as one of those which stood out more.
The restaurant offers a wide selection of Indonesian homely comfort food from across the Nusantara (Indonesian archipelago) to Singapore all under one roof in a cosy yet contemporary setting. It comes with a view of the majestic rain vortex even.
'Sama Sama' means "you're welcome" in the Indonesian language. It expresses appreciation, gratitude, and reflects a joyful spirit of "togetherness".
So on that note, we happily stepped into Sama Sama in anticipation of a scrumptious dinner.

Chao Ting 潮亭 @ Far East Square ~ Delicious & Affordable Teochew 'Pao Fan' By The Jumbo Group
I was so intoxicated by the superb meal at Zui Yu Xuan Teochew Cuisine 醉宇轩经典潮膳 that I fell into food coma and forgot to take my shopping bag with me as I left the restaurant.
Oops! But it gave me a perfect excuse to return the very next day for that tau suan which I love so much, and also to check out its sister concept, Chao Ting 潮亭 which is located right beside Zui Yu Xuan at Far East Square.
The fast-casual dining joint specialises in Teochew 'Pao Fan', a classic Chinese dish of cooked rice grains served in savoury broth. Most of us would not be unfamilar with this rustic comfort food. After the meal, I was hooked. The 'pao fan' at Chao Ting is worth many trips back.

Zui Yu Xuan Teochew Cuisine 醉宇轩经典潮膳 @ Far East Square ~ Cold Crabs, Kway Teow With 'Wok Hei' & That Unforgettable 'Tau Suan'!
The Jumbo Group of Restaurants is renowned for their seafood offerings and award-winning chilli crabs, but little did we know that it has more treasures in the house - A Techeow "trinity" comprising of Zui Yu Xuan Teochew Cuisine 醉宇轩经典潮膳, Chui Huay Lim Teochew Cuisine 醉花林品潮轩, and Chao Ting 潮亭.
Collectively known as Zui (醉) Teochew Cuisine, it's a tribute to the timeless culinary heritage of one of Singapore's founding Chinese dialect group.
We made a visit to Zui Yu Xuan (recently-opened in April) which is located within the historic Far East Square precinct to explore the authentic cuisine it has to offer, and were first greeted by a traditional Chinese entrance way adorned with intricate wood carvings and a sweeping tiled roof.
Wow! Really gave us that "step-back-in-time" feel.

Shang Palace 香宫 @ Shangri-La Hotel Singapore ~ Cantonese Fine Dining At Its Best With Nostalgia, Signature & Innovative Dishes
Shang Palace Singapore itself is a culinary icon.
Launched in 1971 with Shangri-La Singapore, the Cantonese restaurant is the only F&B concept remaining from the hotel group's opening. It is the forerunner of an international chain of 38 Shang Palace restaurants worldwide, and flagship of Shang Palace brand.
The swanky establishment is currently helmed by Executive Chinese Chef Mok Kit Keung, whose sterling 40-year career saw him bring Shang Palace Kowloon to its second Michelin star in 2011.
Wow! But I shall be honest and say that though impressive, none of these really matters unless we experience the food for ourselves, right?
So we went, we ate, and left deliriously filled with joy. Every dish that we had was so satisfying!

Latest! Tendon Kohaku's Brand-New Aka-Fuji Summer Spicy Tendon With Szechuan Peppers & Mala Sauce!
If you've yet to try the seasonal Spring Tendon by Tendon Kohaku, you have a few days left to do so before the brand-new Aka-Fuji Summer Spicy Tendon takes over!
Soon to be launched on 11th June, the summer tempura bowl is drenched with a special Chinese-style spicy sauce made with Szechuan peppers and mala! Omg!
As if Singapore's weather is not hot enough haha. But the spicy sauce is exactly what made the entire bowl fiery and shiok, though I find it leaning towards the spicy rather than tongue-numbing side.

Sun With Moon Japanese Dining & Cafe @ Wheelock Place, Orchard Road ~ Latest 2019 Grand Menu Unveiled!
Sun with Moon Japanese Dining & Cafe is not unfamiliar to us residing in Singapore as the popular restaurant has been around for 14th years. Its location at level 3 of Wheelock Place remained unchanged even!
Not an easy feat considering how cutthroat the F&B industry can be. On a personal front, I guess one of the reasons Sun with Moon manages to stay in business is because of its consistent food quality, as well as the continuous effort in offering regional specialties (changes every 3 months) and yearly refreshed menus to keep the fickle tongues of diners interested.
In fact, the restaurant has just unveiled its latest 2019 grand menu, featuring a repertoire of brand-new creations, together with new spins on all-time favourites.

The acclaimed lobster rolls from Burger & Lobster are finally in our hands!!! Right here in Singapore!
Hailing from London, many positive things have been said about Burger & Lobster's famed lobster roll that has already debuted in cities like New York, Dubai, Bangkok, Genting Highlands, and Kuwait City.
Even way before the restaurant's official launch at Jewel Changi Airport on 23rd May this week, friends and colleagues are already buzzing me with questions," you know when Burger & Lobster is opening huh? I want to eat leh! You think will be expensive anot?"
Of course, there is the hype on both traditional and social media outlets. The level of anticipation is undeniably high.

While the offerings are ingenious in concept and contemporary in presentation, the integrity of Cantonese cuisine that Man Fu Yuan stands for is maintained.

Shang Social 香聚 @ Jewel Changi Airport ~ A New 3-In-1 Dining Concept By The Shangri-La Group
If the "power of three" is anything to go by, Shang Social at Jewel Changi Airport might very well be riding on a winning formula.
The first standalone dining establishment by the Shangri-La group, Shang Social pays tribute to three distinctive Chinese cuisines - Cantonese, Huaiyang, and Sichuan.
The menu is carefully-curated with inputs from three of Shangri-la's highly acclaimed master chefs - Chef Mok Kit Keung, Chef Joe Hou, and Chef Rick Du.
The 220-seater space is divided into three sections: DINING, MRKT, and BAR.

Violet Oon @ Jewel Changi Airport ~ Showcasing Singaporean Flavors To The World + Jewel-Exclusive Dishes!
Ever since Jewel Changi Airport opened in April, I've been travelling to the far far far east side of Singapore every week to explore the diverse food options that it offers. This time is for Violet Oon Singapore, a local restaurant that is celebrated for their showcase of Singaporean and Nyonya flavours.
You may wonder why is there a need to specially make a trip there when there are other more convenient Violet Oon restaurant locations at ION Orchard, National Gallery, Clarke Quay, and Bukit Timah.
Well, the concept of each restaurant differs a little, and this newest branch at Jewel actually brings together all the different elements under one roof. There are also specially-created dishes exclusively available here.

The mapo tofu dish at Michelin-starred Shisen Hanten by Chen Kentaro at Mandarin Orchard Singapore is so immensely well-received that it spanned off a sister concept, Chen's Mapo Tofu.

Guess what, Chen's Mapo Tofu has now opened its latest outlet at Jewel Changi Airport! You can find it inside Five Spice, a foodcourt offering various Asian cuisine, and modelled after the local hawker scenes.

Ho Fook Hei Soy Sauce Chicken @ Great World City ~ Well-Executed, Comforting Cantonese Dishes By Joyden
Ho Fook Hei can be quite a mouthful for those who don't speak the Cantonese dialect. It took me quite some time to get it right oops.
Meaning 好福气 or good forturne, the auspiciously-named casual dining eatery located on the first floor of Great World City (near the office towers) serves its signature rose wine soy sauce chicken, and a medley of authentic Cantonese specialties prepared with time-honoured recipes passed down from generations.
Seems that this latest concept by locally-owned Joyden group of restaurants is very well-received by diners as Ho Fook Hei was packed when we visited on a weekday evening for dinner.

Yun Nans 云海肴 @ Jewel Changi Airport ~ Largest Yunnan F&B Chain With Over 150 Outlets In China Is Now Opened In Singapore!
Having never been to China before, my limited connection to the culturally-rich nation is mostly through their cuisine. Okay, C-dramas like Yanxi Palace as well lol!!!
Now we can get an experience of "gao yuan liao li" or Highland cuisine right here in Singapore. Yun Nans (known in China as 云海肴 "Yun Hai Yao"), the world's largest Yunnan F&B chain with over 150 outlets, has opened its first store in 10 years and the first out of China at Jewel Changi Airport.
Our meal at Yun Nans did not miraculously teleport us to China, but gave us a valuable inkling of what food from the highlands is like.

When we got to know of its new Classic Afternoon Tea: The Orchard that was recently launched on 1st April, we quickly made plans to visit. Afterall, who can resist a sweet, leisurely afternoon over luscious delights hehee?

PORTA @ Park Hotel Clarke Quay ~ Find Out What Is Good From Their Refreshed Menu!
There are some places which I'm happy to visit again, and PORTA is one of them.
From the outside, nothing seems to have changed much. Its lovely premises remains as lovely as my previous visit two years back, but the all-day dining restaurant at the lobby of Park Hotel Clarke Quay has since gotten Executive Chef Alex Phan onboard to helm its kitchen.
Chef Alex's rejuvenated menu is said to present a wider repertoire of well-loved European and Mediterranean dishes, combining fresh produce sourced both globally and locally.

Maggie Joan's @ Amoy Street ~ Serving Up Fantastic Modern European Cuisine
The back lane of Gemmill Lane houses a little gem called Maggie Joan's.
Brought to us by Glen and Daniel Ballis, the same father-and-son owner behind Moosehead, the entrance to Maggie Joan's is inconspicuous, and one of my dining companions actually took a while to find the restaurant. But once you can locate it, be ready to be awed by its gorgeous industrial chic interior, and delectable food prepared by Executive Chef Seumas Smith.
It's easy to be impressed by the dining experience that Maggie Joan's offers, just like we did.

Daebak Ghost Pepper Spicy Chicken Noodles! The Spiciest Instant Noodles Ever From Malaysia!
Daebak Ghost Pepper Spicy Chicken Noodles has been dubbed the spiciest instant noodles in Malaysia. What's the fuss all about?
It turns out to be all because of the..... GHOST PEPPER!!! Though not the hottest pepper in the world, it still measures a whopping 1,000,000 Scoville heat units (SHU)! Compare this to the common bird's eye chilli (50,000 to 100,000 SHU), and Samyang's 2X Hot Spicy Chicken Ramen (8,706 to 10,000 SHU), the ghost pepper can be a real menacing challenge to push one's limits.
That's exactly where the thrill is, so we readily accepted the #canornotchallenge!

IPPUDO Singapore Launches Seasonal Rich Curry Tonkotsu Ramen! So Slurpilicious!
Hurry for curry! That what I did when I heard that IPPUDO Singapore has launched its latest seasonal ramen - Rich Curry Tonkotsu Ramen - just a few days ago on 15th March.
First thing first, this is not your usual Japanese curry that's typically sweet. The spicy bowl is specially created for the Singapore palate, combining three different types of Japanese curry, and the rich spices of South India (masala, cumin seeds, and cayenne peppers) with IPPUDO's signature tonkotsu broth.
True to expectations, the resultant bowl is full of hearty flavors. Even before I tucked into my bowl, I was already intoxicated with its wonderful aroma which somehow strongly reminds me of.....

Kilo Kitchen Finds A New Home At Duxton Road, And Returns With A Delicious Menu
When Kilo Kitchen closed after eight years at Kampong Bugis Road, it doesn't mean goodbye forever. The restaurant simply found a new home at Duxton Road last December, and got closer to its sister property Kilo Lounge which is just a stroll away at Tanjong Pagar Road.
Let's eat, drink, and make merry! That's the vibes I felt when I stepped into Kilo Kitchen's gorgeous premises. The floor-to-ceilings windows allowed the space to be bathe in the warm golden tones of the setting sun and made it even more instagrammable.
I'm so ready for Kilo's menu of modern comfort food that draws from Latin America and Asian influences.

Pasta Supremo @ Suntec City Mall ~ Build Your Own Colourful Handmade Pasta Bowls
A keto diet has been proven (by some of my friends) to be an effective way to lose weight, but it failed big time on me because... I love pastas too much to give it up.
Pasta Supremo ups the temptation factor by offering pasta that are handmade in-house daily, and allowing diners to build their own bowl with a variety of ingredients.
It's up to you if you want your pasta bowl to be over-the-top, instagrammable, or simply a creation that suits your taste buds. But it's definitely not a no-carb friendly choice.

Baba Chews @ Katong Square ~ New Menu With Asian-Inspired Cuisine & Western Classics
Babi Pongteh! Ayam Buah Keluak! Nyonya Chap Chye! I was looking forward to all these Peranakan favourites when we confirmed the date to visit Baba Chews Bar and Eatery, but.....
Their refreshed menu which was recently launched in February took me completely by surprise.
Featuring Asian-inspired cuisine and Western classics, what Baba Chews offers now is certainly not the kind of dishes that the Babas and Nyonya has passed down from generations. While I must admit I was a tad disappointed, the feeling quickly disappeared once we started tucking into the delectable spread.
Traditional might be good, but a modern take on it can be just as pleasing, if not better.

Poulet X Celebrity Chef Justin Quek Collaboration! Be Sure To Catch The Delicious Limited-Time Menu Before It's Gone
Whenever I'm at the French rotisserie chicken chain Poulet, my standard order is always their amazing roast chicken but this time round, I was lured by its limited-time menu born of a special collaboration with celebrity chef Justin Quek.
Chef's Justin is famed for his expertise in French fine dining and deep understanding of Asian cuisines. His Franco-Asian cuisine is represented by his signature dishes such as foie gras xiao long bao, and lobster Hokkein noodles.
I was rather excited to see what chef Justin has specially created for Poulet. Happy to say the dishes were super satisfying, and very much worthy of the trip over.

Baan Ying, Royal Square @ Novena - The Great Baan Ying Brunch Is Happening Every Weekend!
Most of our eyes will light up at the mention of... Buffet! Afterall, who doesn't like an abundance of food by paying just a flat price. Can eat and eat till we get our money's worth haha!
For this reason, we gathered one Saturday morning at Baan Ying, where the "The Great Baan Ying Brunch" is happening every weekend from 11am to 3pm.
We lost ourselves in an array of popular Thai favourites from the Land of Smiles without leaving Singapore.

New Ubin Seafood's New Outlet At Zhongshan Park. Still One Of The Best "Tze Char" Places In Singapore.
From Sin Ming to Hillview, CHIJMES, and most recently Zhongshan Park, I've made efforts to visit New Ubin Seafood whenever the family-runned eatery relocates or opens a new outlet. No denying that I'm a fan.
There's this homely tze char element in their offerings that's so captivating. Though I must admit our experience last year at the CHIJMES outlet left us feeling underwhelmed for most parts. We blamed it on opening jitters maybe.
However, one bad experience doesn't wipe out all the good ones so it didn't deter me from checking out New Ubin at Zhongshan Park.
