Ô COMPTOIR French Crêpe & Cider Bar @ Circular Road ~ Maki Galettes With An Interesting Asian Flair

My boss is French, but I see him eating more Japanese sushi rolls rather than French crêpes. I wonder what he would say to.....maki galettes!

Think galettes rolled with smoked salmon (in style of Japanese maki), and paired with wasabi sauce. It got me at hello.

That is part of the very innovative maki selection which is recently-introduced by Ô COMPTOIR, a crêpe and cider bar located at Circular Road (behind Boat Quay). The French owners wanted to offer diners an interesting way to enjoy their signature galettes, and came up with this idea.

The Pasta Boutique @ Bedok ~ Quality Pasta & Main Courses Offerings In A Coffeeshop At Low Prices! Go For Chili Crab Pasta & Salted Egg Ravioli!

In most of our local Chinese coffeeshops, you would probably see usual offerings like economic rice, chicken rice, noodle, and zhi char, but a stall that's specializing in pasta? Definitely not the most typical.

Instead of being just another generic Western stall, The Pasta Boutique (which is located in a Bedok coffeeshop) aims to differentiate itself by serving good quality pastas and main courses at affordable kopitiam prices.

Founders Mark and Eddie (who have years of experience working in restaurant kitchens) decided to do it because they feel that there's a serious lack of decent kopitiam pasta in Singapore. "Whenever I want to have some nice pasta but don't want to pay more than 10 bucks, I don't know where to go", said Mark.

Royale Restaurant @ Mercure Singapore Bugis ~ Peranakan Dinner Buffet Promotion!

It's been a few weeks since our last visit to Song Garden at Mercure Singapore Bugis. This time round, we're back at the hotel to check out their Peranakan Dinner Buffet promotion at Royale Restaurant.

As the buffet is only available on Fridays, Saturdays and Public Holidays for dinner only till end of June 2017, we quickly made the trip on a Friday evening, just ideal to wrap up the tiring working week and to celebrate the start of weekend. Yay!

Yay to the affordable prices also. Each adult pays $48++, which is considered very reasonable for the sumptuous buffet line-up that showcase the very best of Nonya cuisine.

Wine & Chef @ Keong Saik Road ~ Wine Shop, Restaurant & Bar With Delicious Mod-Sin Dishes

As food and wine pairing becomes more and more commonplace, it is not unusual to see places like Wine & Chef that amalgamates a wine shop, restaurant and bar into one.

Opened in mid-March this year, the 48-seater establishment is located along Keong Saik Road, home to many delectable temptations including Kok Sen, Don Ho, Loloku, 999.99 Five Nines and Potato Head Folk.

While the concept of Wine & Chef is not surprising, I was surprised by the creativity and quality of the Mod-Sin dishes that it serves.

Hokkein Mee with linguine pasta? Salmon confit risotto fish porridge? I'm sold!

Guenpin Fugu & Snow Crab Japanese Restaurant @ Maxwell Chambers, Tanjong Pagar ~ Japan's Largest Fugu Restaurant Chain Is Now In Singapore

Guenpin Fugu & Snow Crab Japanese Restaurant, Japan's number one torafugu restaurant chain with 96 outlets in the country, has launched its first-ever overseas branch in Singapore a few weeks ago!

Its location at Maxwell Chambers is not difficult to find, being easily accessible from Exit B of Tanjong Pagar Mrt Station (EW15). The 32-seater space is quite small though, accommodating just a few tables in the main dining hall, and two small private rooms.

We're happy that with the opening of Guenpin, there is now another specialty restaurant where we can enjoy puffer fish delicacies (besides FUKU Fine Fugu Kaiseki Restaurant at Mohamed Sultan Road).

Nesuto @ Tras Street, Tanjong Pagar ~ New Patisserie Café With Japanese-French Inspired Cakes

Nesuto (meaning "nest" in Japanese) has built its nest at Tras Street, right next to Birders.

That's where we sinfully indulged in some desserts before dinner lol! It was actually more manageable than it sounds, as Nesuto's Japanese-French inspired creations were mostly light in texture and doesn't rest too heavily on the tummy.

Opened just a few weeks ago, the patisserie is brought to us by the same folks behind SHUU, best known for their fluffy cream choux puffs which we can find at Koki Tamagoyaki (Raffles City).

Birders 鳥人 @ Tras Street, Tanjong Pagar - Modern Japanese Yakitori & Sake Bar

"鳥人", the Chinese word which is often used to scold jerks, takes on an entirely different meaning now. Lol!

Birders 鳥人 is a newly-opened modern yakitori and sake bar that specialize in grilled skewers featuring various parts of the chicken. Accompany that with cuploads of sake.

I thought the "bird-man" aka boss himself looked somewhat familiar. Ahh... it turned out to be Adam Chen, a local actor who also counts Five Izakaya as one of his F&B ventures.

Greyhound Café Singapore @ Orchard Paragon ~ Popular Thai Fashion Café With Hipster Vibes & Decent Food

When I visited Greyhound Café Singapore recently, I was lunching with colleagues. Coincidentally, the first time I visited Greyhound Café Bangkok many years back, I was traveling with (ex)-colleagues! Lol!

Now and then. My colleagues has changed, dining city has changed, but I was hoping that Greyhound will still be as delicious as it was in my memory.

Hailed from Bangkok, just like Bangkok? Same same but different.
