Soon to be launched on 11th June, the summer tempura bowl is drenched with a special Chinese-style spicy sauce made with Szechuan peppers and mala! Omg!
As if Singapore's weather is not hot enough haha. But the spicy sauce is exactly what made the entire bowl fiery and shiok, though I find it leaning towards the spicy rather than tongue-numbing side.
The summer tendon comes with an array of ingredients including crispy Soft Shell Crab, Tofu Hamburg with carrot, corn and edamame, Chicken Cocktail Sausage, Prawn, Tuna, Chicken Fillet, as well as Bittergourd and Avocado, both of which are summer vegetables that provide cooling properties to help beat the heat.
Love how it was all coated with tempura batter and deep-fried to crispy deliciousness yet doesn't feel overly greasy.
It's unexplainable why spicy food somehow stimulates the appetite. My dining companion kept saying the summer tendon is spicy yet kept on eating lol. Another friend who doesn't really eat spicy food finds the bowl still acceptable.
But if you think you're already hot enough (pun intended haha) and do not need the extra heat, you can choose to enjoy the summer tendon in Kohaku's original non-spicy sauce too.
The Aka-Fuji Summer Spicy Tendon will retail at $18.80 ++ from 11th June 2019 for a period of three months.
