The Alley Luxe @ Cineleisure Orchard ~ Famous Taiwanese Tea Brand Opens Flagship Store At Orchard Road

Do we need more sweetness in our life? Apparently yes. Even more so when it's in the form of brown sugar deerioca milk from The Alley.

Since its launch in 2013, the Taiwanese beverage brand quickly gained popularity and expanded to about 300 outlets worldwide including Canada, USA, France, China, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, and Australia. The Alley finally arrived in Singapore when its Jewel Changi Airport outlet opened on 17th April this year.

Fast forward to a month later on 18th May, The Alley launched its flagship store at Cineleisure in the heart of Orchard Road!

Aptly named The Alley Luxe, this flagship store adopts a premium lifestyle cafe concept which is the first ever for the brand.

Not only will their finest collection of beverages be showcased, it will also feature an array of European baked pastries such as croissants, cruffins, and kouign-amann.

Customers can opt for takeaway, or enjoy the beverages and pastries in the bright and airy space overlooking Orchard Road.

The signature beverages to order? That would be the Brown Sugar Deerioca Series of course!

Deerioca actually refers to The Alley's tapioca pearls that are meticously made from scratch, and carefully brewed for over 4 hours with all-natural brown sugar to achieve a chewy texture and better aroma.

Japanese grade fresh milk is then added to complete the Brown Sugar Deerioca Fresh Milk ($5.30). I thought the drink is delightful as it is, but the Matcha Brown Sugar Deerioca Fresh Milk ($6.30) ups it further with the addition of freshly-whisked green tea, catapulting the enjoyment to another level.

Though the sugar level cannot be customised, it is surprisingly of an ideal sweetness and not cloying at all. So easy to drink!

It is recommended to consume the drink within 10 minutes as the warm and soft deerioca tends to get harden if left for too long inside the chilled drink.

If you like the combination of fresh fruit and tea, then the Lulu Fresh Fruit Series is perfect for you.

The refreshing Snow Velvet Peach Oolong Tea ($5.80) is brewed with premium tea leaves, and have a delicate fragrance without any unpleasant tannic mouthfeel.

I also enjoyed the Snow Strawberry Lulu ($6.30) with crushed strawberries and finished with a dollop of snow velvet cream. The infusion of flavors is simply lovely.

Can't say the same for the Aurora Series ($8.80) though. Pretty as the Northern Lights with its gradation of colors, but overly saccharine and syrupy tasting for my liking.

Not sure why The Alley is not officially naming their bakery partner for the pastries because its origins is already quite an open secret. The pastries deserved a good part of the attention too because it's so dope. My favourites are the Kaya Cruffin, Kouign-Amann, Almond Croissant, and Sausage Cheese Croissant.

I didn't quite understand the perpetual queue (which can go up to an hour) at The Alley's Jewel outlet but now I finally did after trying its beverages. The quality is undeniable. If I have to spend my calories on sugary drinks, it better be worth it, and The Alley is definitely worth it. Except for the aurora series oops.

Very happy that The Alley Luxe is located so near my office. Time to jio my colleagues for bubble tea happy hour liao!!!
