Perched high on Jewel's topmost level where the Canopy Park is, Rumours Bar & Grill is one of the dining options available when hunger pang strikes.
Even better as it's open till late. Or should I say wee hours in the morning at 3am?
Haha whatever it is, we heard that the award-winning Bali casual dining restaurant's Singapore outpost serves up a delightful menu of bar snacks, glorious grills and signature cocktails with something for all to enjoy.
If the rumours are true, Rumours Bar & Grill would be a fantastic hangout spot for families and friends then.
We checked it out on a Saturday noon, basking under the bright sunshine while enjoying the air-conditioned comfort of the indoor garden environment.
My Ice Latte ($6.80) worked effectively to snap me out of my half-awake "zombie" state, while my friends sipped on beautifully concocted cocktails including the citrusy Passionate Kiss ($18), and gin-based Two Boyfriends ($18) with a shot of Baileys.
Ahh... it's relaxing moments like this that helps to maintain our sanity in the constant struggle for that all-important work-life balance.
Flipping through Rumours' menu revealed many crowd-pleasing favourites.
Snacks such as Calamari ($8.80) with spicy mayo, Luncheon Meat Fries ($8.80), and Nacho Chip ($12.80) are quintessential orders of many when it comes to having some nibbles with the tipples.
And who can resist those pieces of crispy, golden brown Deep-fried Chicken Wings ($8.80)? Certainly not me haha.
I think families with kids will greatly enjoy these items too
Mains are a lot more substantial, offering pastas like Carbonara ($16.80) and Bolognese ($16.80) with minced Wagyu beef, wine, milk and tomato, as well as the mouth-watering looking Rumours Classic Hamburger ($14.80).
We were also recommended to give the grill meats a try, notably the beef selection of Miyazaki Wagyu, USDA Prime, and Angus Beef.
Surprisingly, the Australian Baby Lamb Chops with Garlic Confit ($45.80) turned out to be the highlight.
Its meat is pan-seared to tender and juicy perfection, flavourful without that strong gamey smell. We don't usually fancy lamb this much, but we did greatly enjoyed the one at Rumours.
If you can't decide which meat to go for, the hearty Mix Grill Platter ($48.80) would be your best bet as it comes with choice picks of Angus tenderloin, lamb chop, pork loin, served with fat chips and roasted vegetables.
The food offerings at Rumours are decent, straight-forward, and well-executed.
Though it lacks some creativity and doesn't generate much excitement in that sense, we need not go high on a gastronomic adventure all the time so when we just need to chill and fall back on familiarity, Rumours will suit.
