MavRx Coffee Apothecary @ Duxton Hill ~ Serving One Of The Best Coffee In Singapore!

It seems almost imperative nowadays that whenever I'm in the Tanjong Pagar vicinity, I will swing by MavRx Coffee Apothecary at Duxton Hill for a caffeine fix.

I'm no coffee connoisseur, but there is something about the brew at this coffee specialty joint that highly pleases in terms of smooth finish and well-balanced, full-bodied taste.

You can say both the coffee and place got me hooked.

And what a quaint little place MavRx is!

The space doesn't seem any bigger than a HDB master-room, and is just sufficient to functionally accommodate the coffee counter and a few benches.

Fortunately, the full height glass panel which allows natural daylight to fall in, and strategic use of wall mirror to "double-up" the space make it feel non-claustrophobic at all.

Dominated by striking black and white tiles, MavRx's interior is minimalist and scores greatly on aesthetics with every other nook looking impossibly photogenic.

Check it out on Instagram and you'd know what I mean.

But of course, let's not get too distracted from MavRx's main draw ~ The excellent coffee it offers!

The high-end La Marzocco Strada coffee machine is but just a machine.

The popular Allpress Carmelo Blend of beans from Brazil, Colombia, Guatemala and Sumatra is but just a coffee blend.

Ultimately, it's the barista who puts the soul into both the coffee and the coffee joint.

Eugene is the affable barista running the one-man-show, dispensing Espresso ($3), Black ($4.50), White ($5) in the likes of Hot or Iced (+$1) or with Extra Shot (+$1).

I must warn you that the Cold Brew ($5) is especially potent. I can feel my head spinning with caffeine after finishing all the 5 syringes shots.

Do ask for the Piccolo White ($10) served in cute mini dark chocolate cone cup if available. The combination of coffee mingling with tinges of dark chocolate melted into the drink was truly an intoxicating experience.

MavRx serves only coffee, and is not your typical café to chill out with a group of friends.

It's where one would simply drink and go, or hurriedly grab a takeaway. Sounds very much like a quickie, but the aroma and taste of a good coffee lingers on.

And it will most probably bring you back again :)
