LOLOKU Poké Bar & Deli @ Keong Saik Road ~ Where Poké Bowls Meet Pink Flamingos

Sashimi, Yusheng, Carpaccio, Ceviche, Crudo... these are just some of the raw fish dishes from different cultures, but the one that is trending in Singapore now would undeniably be the... Hawaiian Poké!

LOLOKU Poké Bar & Deli
is one of the many recent joints to jump on the bandwagon, brightening up the gastronomy street of Keong Saik with their colorful poké bowls.

Their storefront dotted with bright pink flamingo board stands is certainly eye-catching too!

The fun and vibrant vibes continues into the interior where the ordering counter and retail corner is.

I especially like the adjoining seating space, which Loloku shares with Don Ho Social Kitchen & Bar. Filled with greenery and bathed in natural daylight, the tropical Hawaiian feel is strong and sets one off in a relaxing mood.

Dismissing the almost non-existent service, Loloku is actually a very nice place to enjoy some healthy poké bowls.

Offerings include the Signature Bowls (available in medium and large sizes), namely The Nani Tofu ($12/$14), The Wikiwiki Salmon ($14/16), The Pupule Tuna ($14/$16), The Ono Hamachi ($16/$18) and The Koa Wagyu ($16/$18).

On top of these, there is the option of BYOP - Build Your Own Poké too.

My friend's Ono Hamachi came looking the prettiest with cubes of Japanese amberjack fish over kombu rice and topped with edamame, seaweed salad, pickled ginger, tobiko in a ponzu & wasabi dressing.

Its taste was clean and delicate compared to the more boldly-flavored Wikiwiki Salmon jazzed with jalapeno, kimchi and chipotle mayo.

For me who has a limited liking for raw fish, the Kao Wagyu came as a natural choice. While the braised beef was tender and the slow-cooked egg provided some creaminess, the entire bowl felt somewhat dry and it needed some sauce.

We finished our medium-sized bowls easily, and my friend exclaimed "I'm still hungry" after that. Lol! Perhaps the large portion will satisfy heartier appetites better.

Be prepared to pay a little more, as prices are higher than typical poké shops elsewhere.
