After a disappointing lunch at Wanton, we headed for more food which is "guarantee-chop-stamp" to be good: Chicken Wings at Two Wings!

Not to their Bukit Merah outlet though, Two Wings has now opened a new branch at Essen @ The Pinnacle, Duxton, which is another "ang-moh" style coffeeshop but is much closer to town. Admittedly, I've not been back to Two Wings at Bukit Merah for quite awhile. The long traveling distance and heat of the coffeeshop can be too much to bear at times. Not to mention the notorious attitude of the coffeeshop landlord which diluted the joy of my chicken wing experience more than once.
So you can imagine how happy I am now to be able to enjoy Two Wings in air-conditioned comfort at a more accessible location with no grouchy uncle in sight. Yay!
Prices for the Chicken Wings are maintained at $8.50 for 4pcs, $12.50 for 6pcs and $24 for 12pcs.
There are also options including Chicken Parts, Spring Chicken, Chicken Cutlet and Chicken Burrito which we can enjoy as part of set/combo meals together with an array of sides such as French Fries and Onion Rings.
But there were some cause for concern, as my friend commented that the wings' standard has dropped during his previous visit to the older stall. Not as juicy and fried in oil that doesn't seem fresh? Oh no!
Fortunately, owner Jeremy is one who takes customer's feedback seriously. More stringent checks and staff training came into place. His fiancée, Samantha, is stationed at the new branch to oversee the operations, and Jeremy himself shuttles between the two outlets to ensure standards are met and quality is consistent.
His staff could be a bit "stressed" by our presence, and the wings arrived a tad more greasy than usual. Nevertheless, a bite into the golden brown, hot crispy skin and succulent, well-seasoned meat rekindled our love for it immediately. We dipped the wings into the zesty homemade chicken-rice style chilli sauce for a 'match made in heaven' taste.
The chicken wings are still as good, if not better. Certainly one of the best in Singapore!
