K-Tower @ Amoy Street ~ First Seafood Tower In Singapore With Army Stew Base!

Boston lobsters! Sri Lankan crabs! Prawns, mussels, oysters and many more! It's seafood galore at K-Tower!

Riding on the latest food trend from Korea, K-Tower at Amoy Street serves 3, 5, 7 and 9-tier seafood towers where a variety of seafood are steamed and presented in separate stacks, before finishing off with a base layer of soup.

Though K-Tower is not the first in Singapore to offer this dining concept, it aims to stay ahead of the game by ensuring that the freshness of the seafood not compromised. Their live seafood comes fresh from the tanks at the back of the restaurant!

To give you a sense of the prices for each Seafood Tower order: 3-tier: $58 (2-3pax), 5-tier: $128 (4-6pax), 7-tier: $198 (7-8pax), and 9-tier: $298 (8-10pax).

The higher the tier = The greater the assortment of seafood.

We can also customize our own seafood tower with the Build-Your-Own Tower option where we simply choose our preferred seafood from the variety available.

There are four Soup Base flavors to choose from, namely Seafood, Kimchi (+$10), Army Stew (+$10) and Ginseng Chicken Soup (+$20).

But K-Tower is not just about the seafood tower. There are quite a number of Korean dishes worth trying too.

For instance, the recommended K-Tower Fried Chicken Wings ($7.90) didn't disappoint. Who wouldn't love those pieces of crispy wings coated with a layer of addictive sweet and spicy sauce?

The Seafood Pancake ($14.90) was thin and fried slightly longer to give it a crispier bite.

We were told that this is to better suit the local palates. Though we enjoyed it to the very last piece, some comments overheard were, "hmm, not very traditional hor?"

Shake Shake Rice Box ($9.90) provided some novelty thrill.

The box filled with rice, julienned vegetables and gochujang sauce is akin to bibimbap but with a fun twist. You will have to shake the box to mix all the ingredients together. Interesting concept but nothing extraordinary in terms of taste.

We also moistened our lips with a bowl of Korean Ginseng Chicken Soup ($17.90).

The ginseng flavor was light and not too overwhelming. Apart from the tasty broth, the tender chicken meat is worth mentioning too and portion provided was pretty generous.

Highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the dominating 9-Tier Seafood Tower ($298) which came with Prawn, Scallop, Oyster, Shellfish, Fish, Sea Cucumber, Crab, Lobster and Abalone (+$90).

This was shared by our table of 8 people.

The tower was stacked so high that we had to get up from our seats to reach the topmost layer. Quite a sight to see everyone standing around the table for their food. Lol!

We all agreed that the freshness of the seafood was on point. Every piece we had was winsome with succulent texture and clean flavors.

The prawns were especially pleasing with firm, bouncy bite. It just needed a dip into the spicy sambal chili to elevate the enjoyment further.

But somehow, the sambal chili is more local rather than Korean. Although gochujang and soya sauce dip are provided too, it felt that we were not having a Korean meal at some point.

Snapper fish, clams, mussels, as well as the meaty lobsters and crabs were highly-received too.

Looks may be deceiving and many would probably overlook the sea cucumber.

It may not be the most photogenic item but it was so so so good! Unlike the tasteless, rubbery sea cucumber I usually have, this was savory and bursting with flavor.

As each tower is cleared away, the essence of steamed seafood from the respective layers had already slowly trickled down into the soup at the bottom.

Ours was a pot of army stew goodness enhanced with a crustacean depth.

Add-on ingredients such as Sea Urchin Ball ($3.90), Fish Tofu Cheese ($3.90), Wagyu Beef ($12.90), Kurobuta Pork ($9.90), Luncheon Meat ($3.90) and Ramyeon ($1.90) are available to double up as a steamboat experience on top of the seafood feast.

Our evening rounded up on a carb overdose when Trilogy Rice Cake With Honey ($5.90) in cheese, pumpkin and sweet potato flavor was served.

The rice cake itself can be stronger in taste as I felt that it was overpowered by the honey. We can barely finished our plate.

Also, perhaps a lighter option for dessert would be generally more welcomed after the heavy meal.

If you happen to be in the vicinity during lunch time on weekdays (11.30am to 2.30pm, excluding public holidays), do take advantage of the value Set Lunch and enjoy dishes like Army Stew, Shake Shake Rice Box and Korean Ginseng Chicken from only $9.90 onwards. Comes with a free drink and side dishes.

Overall, K-Tower is an ideal choice for quality seafood which does not hurt the wallet too much.
