Melt Café @ Mandarin Oriental Hotel Singapore ~ Still One Of The Best Hotel Buffets In Singapore!

Melt Café has melt our hearts again with its newly refreshed look and tantalizing delights!

The popular all-day dining buffet restaurant at Mandarin Oriental has recently undergone a refurbishment, and is updated with a more contemporary and stylish interior. Expect warm sunlight streaming into the main dining space if you visit during the day, the classy ambience at night is no less lovely too.

Despite the many business luncheons I had at Melt back then, the thought of dining there now still excites me much because its food rarely disappoints. Here's what you can expect at the buffet line-up.

Seafood Counter

The seafood counter is an island by itself, constantly surrounded by a moat of diners clamoring for the enticing array of fresh seafood including Freshly-shucked Oysters, Crabs, Lobsters, Prawns and Mussels, just to name a few.

If the above picture seemed to imply it is not as attractive as I made it out to be, the reason is because I was kiasu and made it there earlier than anyone else. The early PinkyPiggu gets all the seafood! Haha!

Not to worry, my observation was that the offerings gets replenished very often as soon as it runs low. There's enough for everyone!

Cold Station

The cold station is where you can have your fill of Sushi, Sashimi and Salads.

Who eats salads at a buffet anyway? Those who need their daily dose of greens lor (I'm a rabbit disguised as a PinkyPiggu. Really.).

Charcuterie is available as well, along with a selection of Homemade Breads.

Live Station

My favorite station where food is prepped ala minute! One should go straight for Shabu Shabu Wagyu Beef served over rice and comforting Herbal Drunken Prawns.

If you get the Specialty Boston Lobster Laksa for noodle of the day selection as well, go go go for it.

Here's sharing a tip: I'm too lazy to walk multiple rounds to get my appetite satisfied, so I got double portion of beef, prawns, extra lobster (basically more ingredients) in one serving. No, I did not flirt with the cook, I just have to ask nicely hehee.

European and Asian Spread

The roast and carving station was very much a draw, with well-roasted beef and ducks vying for a spot in our tummies.

There are also a variety of soups, vegetable, rice and meat including crowd-pleasing dishes such as Baked Salmon and Braised White Wine Mussels.

Indian Cuisine

I was about to give the richness of the Indian dishes a skip when my dining companions went, "what?! no one comes to Melt without trying their much-loved Indian cuisine!"

Their reminder saved me from the regret of missing out on those delicious Naans, Lamb Curry, Palak Mushroom, Aloo Dhaiwale, Gobhi Amritsari, Tandoori Prawns, and much more. Even the nondescript looking Jeera Rice was superb!

Cheese Bar and Pastry Theatre

Other than the magnificent artisanal cheese bar, the pastry theatre where dainty desserts and irresistible cakes are laid out in a visually appealing feast, is not to be missed.

Get the freshly-made crepes and waffles, and dress it up with toppings of your choice. I even plated mine with macarons and fresh fruits. So sweet! So nice!
