Geometry, A Gelato Café At Bukit Merah ~ Pretty Gelato On A Tart!

Back in school, the word 'geometry' is one of the most scariest ever for a mathematics dummy like me. Now, I can't wait to lap it all up! Because 'geometry' has taken on the delicious edible form of gelato! Haha!

Geometry has opened in the heartlands of Bukit Merah, specializing in freshly-made gelato with no artificial preservatives or ingredients, and paired with handcrafted pastries.

Recipes are akin to formulas, combination of ingredients require precision like equations, hence the name of this ice cream parlor. Very cheem profound hor...

When Shuxian, one of the owners, told us that she majored in mathematics, we went, "ahh... no wonder!"

I guess it also took quite a bit of courage for her to give up a teaching career to establish Geometry with her godsister Jeslyn.

One scoops (ice cream), the other bakes (pastries). The two girls' childhood dream of doing something together someday is now realized.

Their happy memories inspired gelato flavors like the ooh-so-pretty swirl of pastel pink and blue Bing Bong. Sweet and creamy, it’s a throwback to days when they would enjoy a stick of Paddle Pop ice cream. They hope customers will be as full of joy when we eat their gelato.

Earl Grey Tie Guan Yin is a “beautiful mistake”, when an overflow during the preparation process caused the English and Chinese tea to blend into one unique flavor.

There are at least 10 other flavors available on day of our visit, ranging from the light and fruity Mandarin Orange Sorbet, Watermelon Lychee Sorbet, to chocolatey delights such as Chocolate Honey Nougatine, Dark Chocolate Truffle and crowd pleasers like Pistachio, Cookies & Cream as well as Salted Caramel.

A scoop starts at $3.20 for single, going up to $5.50 for double and $2.50 for each subsequent scoop. Add $0.70 for each scoop of premium flavour.

There is also the option of pairing a single scoop of gelato with Handcrafted Tart ($9.90), Belgian Waffle ($8.50) or Brute Brownie ($8.90), all freshly baked by Jeslyn in the kitchen.

Our choice was the handcrafted tart of course! Other than being a good-looker, we thought it to be more unusual compared to the typical waffle or brownie. And that bling bling “crown” made of salted caramel threads that’s done so exquisitely. So chio! We want!

The overall taste wasn’t too bad at all, though sweetness level can be lowered a little. The creamy texture and nutty fragrance of the pistachio gelato was pleasing, and the tart reminded us of those Taiwanese pineapple tarts.

If my house is near Geometry, this would probably be my regular haunt for more delightful treats. But alas it isn’t, and I do need a stronger reason to travel all the way back again.

Perhaps some new flavors which we have yet to see in Singapore? Honey butter gelato, maybe? wish Wish WISHING…..
