Best known for the specialty premium roasts in their buffet line-up, The Carvery is a place which carnivore me has been intending to visit for quite awhile.
And the timing couldn't have been better! This stalwart restaurant of Park Hotel Alexandra (located next to Ikea) is currently welcoming their first Christmas this year with a stunning special yuletide offering of festive meats and dishes from 11th to 31st December 2015!
Whether it's for Christmas or New Year, this would be a suitable venue for feasting and merriment with loved ones.
Situated on level 7, The Carvery boasts a spacious dining environment with full height glass panels overlooking the hotel's rooftop infinity pool, and a stylish al-fresco pool bar, Aqua Luna.
I even made it a point to arrive earlier for dinner as I wanted to catch the sunset! The evening skyline was so beautiful!
On New Year's Eve, Aqua Luna is where the countdown will take place. Guests will be invited to ring in 2016 under the starry skies!
First thing that caught my attention upon entering the restaurant was the expansive 3-metre long meat carving station spotlighting 3 to 4 top quality cuts of beef, lamb, pork and chicken.
A wide variety of condiments and sauces are also created to complement the meats, including specialty fine salt and housemade anchovy butter, as well as... oooooh... truffle butter!
For December, in addition to this stellar and well-received range of roasts, we can also expect festive meats and dishes going on rotation throughout the entire month!
Besides the ubiquitous Roasted Turkey, highlights to look out for include Spiced Orange Roasted Duck, Coffee Roasted Baby Back Ribs, Lamb Leg with Herbs de Provence, Honey-glazed Bone-in Gammon Ham, and a selection of freshly made Gourmet Sausages.
Chef's signature in-house dry-aged Beef Prime Rib is definitely not to be missed too!
Seafood fans are not forgotten as The Carvery serves up a lip-smacking edition of Seafood Bouillabaisse. Its broth was exceeding slurpilicious and we do love the hearty amount of seafood that was thrown into the pot.
The Maple-glazed Salmon was another unanimous favorite among our table. Who wouldn't fancy fish that is baked to moist, gentle perfection? Too too too good and it's true.
At the live cooking station, there are also other options such as Pizza, freshly-made Bread and ala-minute Pasta.
Noteworthy too are the array of sides such as Buttered Brussel Sprouts & Carrots, Braised Purple Cabbage with Juniper Berries, Baked Beetroot with Cider, Mashed Celeriac & Potato and even Wood-fired Roasted Chestnuts cooked in coffee beans for a lovely smokey coffee scented finish.
The crisp and fluffy Yorkshire Pudding (available at dinner only) are a must-try, so are the seemingly nondescript but highly addictive Fried Corn on Cob.
I must do a mention at this point in case you forget that this is a buffet lol!
Eat as much as your appetite allows but do remember to make space for desserts. The Carvery's signature trifle takes on the flavors of the season with an Apple & Brandied Prune edition.
Christmas Rum Pudding drizzled with a rich toffee sauce is another star offering and makes a most decadent treat to round off any meal.
