#omySBA2013 ~ Panasonic Cooking Workshop @ Onaka Restaurant & Wine Bar

Encouraged. Inspired. Motivated.

PinkyPiggu is one of the top 10 finalists for the Singapore Blog Awards 2013 ~ Best Cooking Blog category! Yay! I felt very encouraged to continue sharing more of my cooking experiments and recipes through this humble blog. Together with all the other finalists, we attended a cooking workshop organized by OMY and Panasonic at Onaka Restaurant & Wine Bar last weekend, where Chef Jason and Chef Benson demonstrated to us how effortless it can be to whip up some delicious dishes in our home kitchen with the help of modern technology. I was greatly inspired after the session with lots of recipe ideas running though my head. Seeing how cooking method can be simplified and made less time consuming with the use of Panasonic kitchen appliances actually motivated me to cook more often!  Yay to time saving! Cannot always say "no time, no time" already. :p

In just the short duration of 2 hours, 5 yummy and healthy recipes were shared with us ~ Onaka Living Green Healthy Smoothie, Yam Cake, Farmer Pie, Hong Kong-style Ginger Egg Pudding and Apple Pastille, created with only Panasonic Microwave Oven, Rice Cooker and Blender. The products has definitely revolutionized the way we cook. I learned that microwave is not just used for heating up food and the rice cooker can be used in more ways than just cooking rice. Yay to multi-functionality!

All the recipes shared during the workshop can be found at the end of this blog post. Greatly inspired, I will be doing my cooking experiments in my own kitchen very soon. Watch this PinkyPiggu space for recipe updates soon yo! :)

Difficulty in finding time to cook amid my busy working and social schedule aside, what I really dread is the tedious cleaning which comes after the cooking. I do not have a luxury of a helper and the thought of all the scrubbing, mopping the kitchen sometimes hold me back. But with the microwave oven, I can perform tasks like heating shallots without the oiliness and smoke which I get from the conventional stir-frying way. What I get now is the same sauté effect and aroma, without any compromise on the taste. Yay to easier cleaning!

The multi-functionality and versatility of the Panasonic kitchen appliances also means that we do not need a whole load of pots and pans, but are still equipped sufficiently to create a wholesome complete meal. Yay to kitchen space saving!

The workshop ended with a short interview with the finalists. Talking to the camera is sooooooo scary for me lol. We were asked questions like what inspired us to cook and what our comfort food is (can you guess mine?). Hope to see the interview clips on OMY soon!

I really enjoyed the workshop and benefited much from it. What I gained is not just cooking tips, but also the valuable experience of being a part of this exciting Singapore Blog Awards event. It's great to meet up with the other finalists too, some of you I've already know, some of you I've just met. I think our great smiles says it all. Please look at our beautiful photo above!! LOL!!!
