Tokyo Chopped Salad @ Millenia Walk ~ Chef Teppei Opens Japanese Chopped Salad Shop! Chop, Chop, Chop, Wait, Wait, Eat!

Since I am on a diet and constant lookout for new salad shops in Singapore because #NewYearResolution #100DaysOfSHOU, I was initially very excited when I heard about Tokyo Chopped Salad.

Such a refreshing idea.

Opened at Millenia Walk, this is the first chopped salad brand in Singapore developed by the award-winning chef Teppei Yamashita. He is the owner of Teppei Japanese Restaurant, Teppei Syokudo, and Man Man Unagi Restaurant.

Since Chef Teppei’s concepts are typically well-received, I thought that Tokyo Chopped Salad should have 'some standard'.

The space of the salad shop is quite cramped though, and you must be quite SHOU (skinny) to be able to squeeze through some tables. LOL!

All the unique Japanese inspired dressings and proteins are specially crafted by Teppei-san.

There are 5 signature salads which are available, namely Mentai Teriyaki Chicken ($13.80), Corocoro Shrimp Tofu Salad ($12.80), Premium Beef Tataki ($14.80), Healthy Avocado Mushroom ($11.90) and Soft Shell Crab Oishii Salad ($16.80)

For those of you who likes to explore some creativity, or have specific choices (because all the ingredients will be chopped in and you cannot 'pick' them out), I would suggest the DIY concept.

If you are rushing to the next meeting, perhaps you can go the other salad shop opposite, or make your way to Teppei Syokudo. LOL. Chopping up the greens will take some time, not recommended if you do not have the time and patience.

My favorite was the Mentai Teriyaki Chicken. At least the salad had a more varied taste, and the chicken pieces were flavorful with some bite.

The Premium Beef Tataki was boring and probably needed more sauce, while the soft shell crab in the Soft Shell Crab Oishii Salad had a weird, oily aftertaste. I would suggest using freshly fried crabs, but then again, that might further hold up the queue.

Tokyo Chopped Salad will work well for those who are lazy, correction, like to use a spoon to eat your salads without the leaves falling all over the place. At times, it felt like I was having "adult baby food". LOL!

I like to look at my meats when I eat though! Makes eating more enjoyable and appetizing.

Some suggestions would be to speed up the chopping process, and not to chop the meats into such small pieces such that they blend in totally.
