FOO'D By Davide Oldani @ Victoria Theatre & Concert Hall ~ A New Italian Fine-Dining Restaurant By Michelin-Starred Chef

If food be the fuel of life, let me eat on. Okay, another PP excuse for failed diet plans lol!

Just give me FOO'D! My head was ringing that repeatedly as I made my way over to FOO'D by Davide Oldani, a new Italian fine-dining restaurant that has opened at the Victoria Theatre & Concert Hall last December.

With high ceiling, majestic columns, and well-spaced tables, the grandeur of FOO'D's interior is befitting of the beautiful, historic site that it sits on.

Chef-owner Davide Olandi also has a Michelin-starred D’O Restaurant in Milan, Italy, so it naturally raised our expectations a bit.

The menu is designed based on Davide's Cucina Pop philosophy, which aims to deliver high quality, fine cuisine that is affordable and accessible for everyone to enjoy.

Lunch is priced at $45++ (3 courses) and $52++ (4 courses), while Dinner is at $138++ (5 courses) and $168++ (7 courses) per person with vegetarian options.

There is no ala-carte selection.

Some of the dishes from our lunch includes Baccala Mantecato or creamed dried cod with a saltish and fishy taste profile, Iced Lardo with honey and roasted polenta, Australian Lobster Soup, and creamy Mushroom Soup with Umbrian truffle.

I'm glad I picked the tender 72° French Roast Chicken as my main, because the Vegetarian Cianfotta and Risotto with toasted seeds, coffee powder, blueberries and bottarga doesn't hold much appeal. The carnivore in me must have chunks of meat to feel satisfied on most occasions.

Dessert was decidedly my favorite part of the meal, with both the chilled Zuccotto and zesty Lemon Curd with meringue and lettuce ice cream being enjoyable and easy to like.

At the end of our lunch, I told my dining companion, "My thoughts for this kind of place is hardest to write. Its food doesn't give me a high nor low, it's not bad but not outstanding either. Probably the kind of place I will go once and let it slowly fade from my memory".

Ironically, it was the innovative utensil that has spoon, fork and knife rolled into one which was quite unforgettable. I busily chased morsels on the plate with it, and my soup keeps dripping off it! We had to ask for proper cutlery eventually. Lol!
