Golden Peony @ Conrad Centennial Singapore ~ Chinese New Year (CNY) 2017 Menu Highlights



As Lunar Year of Monkey will soon swing away and the Fire Roaster is all set to move into 2017, that delicious Roast Suckling Pig from Golden Peony is staying put! Yay! It's not going anywhere but our tummies! Lol!

For this reason and also to check out their other festive offerings (available 10th January to 11th February 2017), we headed once again to Golden Peony, the fine Cantonese restaurant located at level 3 of Conrad Centennial Singapore.


Let's start with a prosperity toss or commonly known as 'lo hei'! Huat ah!!!

The Fortune 3D Fiery Rooster Yu Sheng (创意立体鱼生, $888 for 30 pax) is a magnificent display of julienned vegetables fanned out in form of the rooster, auspicious Chinese greetings and 4D numbers!

Completed with Kanpachi, abalone, salmon, crispy fish skin, zesty homemade sauce and even a chocolate 3D rooster which smashed open to reveal a mini trove of edible treasures, the entire setup is certainly designed to be a head-turner at any CNY meal.

Each order is sufficient for 30 persons which is ideal for an extended family reunion meal, office gathering or when entertaining business associates.


Other highlight includes Golden Peony's Signature Roast London Duck (招牌伦敦鸭, $80 for whole duck), Stir-fried Broccoli topped with Scallop & Egg White (赛螃蟹西兰花, $38 for 2-4 pax), 'Bi Feng Tang' Golden Half Lobster with Spiced Almond Flakes (避风塘开遍龙虾, $38), Braised Premium South African Abalone ($78 per person), as well as Braised Sea Cucumber stuffed with Minced Shrimp & Pork (龙船酿海参, $88 for 2-4 pax).

This is nothing short of a sumptuous feast!


It's difficult to say which was my favorite dish of the evening, but one which I enjoyed immensely is the Stir-fried Broccoli topped with Scallop & Egg White.

Its light, delicate taste stood out among the heavier, luscious flavors, and not to mention that exquisite plating.

Love that yam chip ring which was nicely done to a thin, crisp bite.


We have to thank Golden Peony's Executive Chinese Chef Ku Keung for his sleepless nights as that's when his creativity went into an overdrive.

"睡不着就胡思乱想", he quipped. Lol!

Innovative dishes such as Whole Roast Suckling Pig with California Maki (创意寿司全体乳猪, $338 whole) and Golden Egg Bird’s Nest Jelly (燕窝蛋中蛋, $28) are results of his whimsical imaginings.


Both translated rather well into reality, though for the Whole Roast Suckling Pig, I still prefer the previous year's savory chicken rice stuffing to this year's Japanese-inspired California maki. That aside, the delectable skin crackling was faultless.

The Golden Egg Bird's Nest Jelly was an intricate presentation of bird's nest jelly sphere resting on a nest of cotton candy, and topped with golden threads of spun sugar.

Its taste was just as lovely as its looks.
