Wan Hao Chinese Restaurant 萬豪軒 @ Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel ~ Auspicious Lunar New Year Feasts for CNY 2018

My friend told me with a pining tone in his voice, "I've waited for a year..... to eat Pen Cai!!!"

Haha yes, the luxurious pot is back, together with auspicious yusheng and a host of delicacies synonymous with Lunar New Year celebrations.

This year, Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel is offering prosperous set menus, specially-curated Spring buffets, exquisite takeaway treats that features both classic favorites and innovative delights.

We were at its award-winning Wan Hao Chinese Restaurant 萬豪軒 for an early CNY feast.

The menus are specially-crafted by Executive Chinese Chef Brian Wong, each set starts from $108.80 ++ per person (4 to 8 persons) to $2088++ per 10 persons.

Yu Sheng or Lo Hei is a must-have at every reunion table as it symbolizes well-wishes, blessings and starting off the new year on an auspicious note.

To usher in the Lunar Year of Dog, Wan Hao is presenting not just one or two, but six different renditions of Yusheng!

From the lavish Lobster, Scallop, Tuna, Salmon & Caviar Yu Sheng, to Sliced Abalone, Salmon or Tuna with Crispy Fish Skin Yu Sheng, or even Chicken Bak-Kwah Yu Sheng, there is something to cater to most tastebud.

There is also the Black Truffle Vegetarian Yu Sheng for a meatless option!

Instead of the traditional plum sauce, the yusheng are dressed with kumquat sauce which provides a refreshing zesty twist.

We love the addition of crispy fish skin for extra crunch.

Besides the yu sheng, Wan Hao's Imperial Pot of Prosperity Pen Cai is definitely another highlight.

Our pot was filled with 14 luxurious treasures including Australian 3-head abalone, crispy oyster, braised Irish duck, whole pig trotter, conpoy, sea cucumber, fish maw, Japanese shiitake mushroom, black moss, Iberico meat ball, just to name a few.

The rich and flavorful stock prepared with Chinese ham, old chicken and scallop tied all the ingredients together beautifully. It was indeed a sumptuous treat!

The Braised Bird's Nest with Assorted Dried Seafood Broth & Golden Superior Stock is also not to be missed. It was certainly flavorful in every sip, with pumpkin adding an extra dose of enjoyable sweetness.

Other noteworthy dishes on the menu includes Deep-fried Lobster with Yuzu Mayonnaise, Braised U.S. Short Ribs in Japanese Light Soya Sauce, Deep-fried Cod Fish with Celery Sauce, and Crispy Pork Trotter with Wolfberry Sauce.

We finished the meal with a lovely dessert of Chilled Lemongrass Jelly with lemon Sorbet, but that's not all! There are goodies for takeaway too.

Back by popular demand is the Golden Nian Gao Tart with Yam ($28nett for 8pieces). It was so addictive that I almost finished the whole box by myself lol! The new Golden Nian Gao Tart with Cempedak ($32nett for 8pieces) sounds interesting too.

The nian gao tarts, together with other CNY snacks such as Rainbow Kueh Lapis ($68nett), Pineapple Tarts ($43nett), Bak-Kwah Cornflake Cookies ($42nett) are available at the hotel's forecourt stall, and through website order as well from 24th January to 15th February 2018.
