Dallas Restaurant & Bar @ Suntec City Sky Garden ~ Hearty Dining In A Beautiful Glass House Setting

PinkyPiggu has been going to Suntec City quite often recently, previously was to Eat At Seven's Tokyo Sundubu and Menya Takeichi, this time round is for dinner at Dallas Restaurant & Bar.

Since debuting at Boat Quay in 2006, the restaurant is best known for their hearty fare and modern bar bites, as well as its good selection of wines and beers.

Fast forward to 2016, it's Dallas' 10th birthday! Not only do we see the launch of their stunning new outlet at Suntec City Sky Garden, there are also stellar menu items and promotions as part of the brand's 10th anniversary celebration.

What first striked me was how beautiful the 92-seater restaurant is. Its exquisite glass house-style design allows an abundance of light into the premises during the day, and offers a beautiful view of the city's skyline in the evening.

It also boasts of a large al-fresco space with eye-catching shimmering pool feature and seats for 70 guests.

The bar area is where an impressive island bar takes centerstage, and also where sporting events are being screened. Walk further in, it opens up to an expansive main dining room where we sat down for dinner.

The menu comprises of a rather good selection, from Bar Snacks to start with, lighter Salads, Sharing Platters for happy indulgence together, Burgers & Sandwiches to satiate that hunger, as well as sizable Mains to complete any meals on a substantial note.

Signature items includes Snapper Fish Tacos ($22), Salt & Pepper Calamari ($18), Prime Rib Steak ($40), Dallas Fajitas ($28), Baby Back Ribs ($30), BBQ Baramundi ($30).

Ahh.... those Snapper Fish Tacos ($22 for 3pcs / $8 for each additional piece)! Please bear with me while I raved about the yummy chunky pieces of snapper before anything else. It was deep-fried to crispy perfection on the outer, with fresh, moist tender meat that yielded such satisfying bites with that tortilla wrap.

Flavors were undoubtedly spot-on, with pineapple chutney providing bursts of refreshing zest, and Chipotle mayonnaise adding a little heat. Together with slivers of Spanish onions, cabbage and baby radish, it all came together so beautifully in the mouth. In my mind I was thinking, "these fish tacos are better than the ones I had from a certain famed Mexican restaurant in Melbourne's Collins Street!"

Dallas do have another taco variant, the Crisp Pork Belly Tacos ($14 for 3pcs / $5 for each additional piece). It came across as less spectacular though, mostly due to the meat's texture which could be more tender. But nothing to fault of the flavors which were once again immensely pleasing with aioli, Spanish onions, and slices of fresh jalapeno for a fiery finish.

Our meal followed with more bar snacks, including the addictive Jalapeno Croquettes ($15) featuring creamy potates mixed with bechamel sauce, cheddar and chopped pickled jalapeno peppers fashioned into spheres, breaded and deep-fried. These were served with green chilli mayonnaise. I would advise you to give the delish nuggets a generous dip in it for a spicy kick.

The Grilled Corn ($6) might not be the best I've tasted, but its well-executed simplicity was nevertheless delicious in every crunchy bite.

Now for the highlight!

Gluttonous gasps were audible as the servers brought out the Dallas Meat Platter ($70 for 2pax / $130 for 4pax)! Haha!

This whopper of a meal is one of Dallas' new dishes to commemorate its 10th anniversary, showcasing 4 different meats on one single platter, namely Grilled Australian Lamb Cutlets, Pork Ribs which are marinated in either a tangy sweet berry glaze or a fiery BBQ sauce, Rotisserie Chicken, and Prime Rib Steak.

Each platter is served with roasted potatoes, tomatoes on vines and a choice of mushroom or black pepper sauce, as well as mustard.

Expectantly, we enjoyed some cuts more than the others with each having our personal favorites, and the one which stood out for me was the Prime Rib Steak.

100-day grain fed Australian beef is used, the slab of prime rib is lightly seasoned and slow-roasted for 15 hours before finished on the grill for a lovely char. The recommended doneness is medium-rare, which suited me perfectly fine. Flavors were robust and superb in each chew.

The Prime Rib Steak ($40) is also available as a standalone order and get this..... on weekends, guests can enjoy free-flow of this premium cut at only $35 per person. Not kidding!

Overall, Dallas has exceeded my expectations in terms of food and ambience. The initial intention to just check out a restaurant which I've not visited before turned out to be a reward of wondrous dining experience.

I would recommend this restaurant as an ideal spot for a casual date, after-work drinks with colleagues, group gatherings, and guy bonding time over live match screenings. Suitable too if you're sourcing for a private venue for cocktail parties or corporate events.

For you who are simply looking to chill over a glass or two, it's Happy Hour at Dallas Restaurant & Bar everyday from 11am to 8pm. Guests get to enjoy house pour wines and spirits for only $12++ and Stella Artois and San Miguel go for only $14++ per pint.
