Bedrock Bar & Grill, 313@Somerset ~ One Of The Best Places In Town For A Delicious Meal!

Lunch time, time to eat! We were at Bedrock Bar & Grill to fuel up and enjoy a great offer by The Entertainer, a user-friendly smartphone app which provides us with substantial cash savings when we dine at any of the dining establishments under their list. Redemption of the offer was hassle-free and we benefited from what we thought was a very-worth-it deal at Bedrock: 'Buy 1 main course, get 1 free'! No kidding yo! Best of all, the food at Bedrock was delicious!

The location of Bedrock is a very convenient one yet some might find it hardly noticeable. Situated along the street level of Pan Pacific Serviced Suites, it's right outside the entrance of 313@Somerset where Marché is. A walk pass through the open kitchen bar brought us to the dining area which is a blend of rustiness and sexiness with its wooden wall panels, deep brown tones and cosy, dimmed lighting. The atmosphere makes it suitable for a quiet business lunch or intimate dinner for couples.

The menu is inspired by the culinary team's gastronomy experiences accumulated from their travels around the world, from Spanish dinner parties, late-night brasseries in New York and Paris, to simple good cooking at afternoon eateries in Sydney and San Francisco.

We started off our meal with the complimentary Flatbread which I deemed to be very dangerous. Why is that so? Because the flatbread was amazingly soft, fluffy with a pleasant slightly chewy texture. Totally yummilicious! Warm to my fingers' touch, the flatbread had the butter melted at first contact and was thoroughly enjoyable with cloves of sweet roasted garlic. It's dangerously easy to overload my tummy with this carbs which is served free-flow lol.

I also dipped the bread into our Bedrock Smoked Tomato Soup ($14) with basil mascarpone. Smooth, tangy and appetite whetting, the soup was a good recommendation by the server.

Bedrock is also rather well-known for their quality steaks at reasonable prices, but we went for a steak of a different kind - the "Steak" Diane ($32). Cows are spared for this main course as the "steak" is actually a gigantic piece of beautifully grilled mushroom served with truffle fries by the side. The pairing with the creamy mustard sauce was absolutely divine. Love it!

Thanks to the deal by the Entertainer app, we enjoyed the mushroom steak for free because we had ordered the Chopped Steak Burger ($35) (Buy 1 main course, get 1 free). The thick patty of u.s.d.a prime beef was done perfectly to my requested medium rare, with a pinkish center delightful to both sight and taste. Sandwiched together with fragrant crisp bacon, fried egg, mustard bbq sauce and oak-smoked aged cheddar between two lightly toasted buns, this is one burger definitely worth relishing in.

Oh, if you wanna know, the egg did ooze with gooey yellow yolk! ! There is no way the egg can escape the serial egg murderer lol!
Though Bedrock is the place to come for a drool-worthy steak, we say their Chopped Steak Burger ($35) is most definitely not to be overlooked, and though on the pricey-side, it's a less expensive dining choice for the restaurant should you not want to fork out on a steak. Made with 100% USDA prime angus beef, bacon, fried egg, mustard bbq sauce and oak smoked cheddar cheese, we love the mesh of flavours in this succulent burger. - See more at: http://www.citynomads.com/reviews/restaurants/405/singapores-best-burgers#sthash.QnaSsvsR.dpuf

Our choice of dessert was the Waffle Ice Cream Sandwich ($20). Though I would prefer it to be a tad fluffier, the buttermilk waffle was still undoubtedly one of the better ones I had recently. Freshly cooked to a crisp golden brown on the outside, its alluring aroma has reached my nose before it reached our table. Simply lovely with the double scoop of honey & fig ice cream and a drizzle of chocolate sauce. It was a sweet end to a satisfying meal.

Thanks Daniel Ang, for the blessed lunch! :)
