PinkyPiggu went for a preview to check out the selections and here's sharing with you what's good.
Crystal Jade Fine Dining Restaurants
A comprehensive range of elaborate set menus showcasing premium ingredients and produce are served at all four fine dining restaurants which includes Crystal Jade Palace (Ngee Ann City #04-19), Crystal Jade Golden Palace (Paragon #05-22), Crystal Jade Prestige (MBFC Ground Plaza #02-01), and Crystal Jade Dining IN (Vivocity #01-112).
One might imagine the tastebud to be wearied after tossing through a couple of lo-hei this year, but I found mine somehow invigorated by Crystal Jade's Prosperity Yusheng with Abalone & Pomegranate ($138 L / $88 S)!
It could be due to the addition of fresh pomegranate seeds that provided such lovely burst of tanginess whenever I bite into one! Looking like red rubies, this antioxidant rich fruit has been revered as a symbol of health, fertility and eternal life. So auspicious! The sour plum and pomegranate dressing paired exceedingly well with the colorful confetti of essential lo-hei ingredients. Add slices of Mexican abalone to the mix, what a winner we have here!
Pen-cai is the dish I look forward to at every CNY feast, and the rendition at Crystal Jade - Luxurious Abalone Treasure Pot ($318 for 6pax / $498 for 10pax) - certainly met all expectations.
The treasure pot brimmed with 15 premium ingredients including eight-head abalones, sea cucumber, dried oysters, smoked pig trotters and fish maw, all braised in a deliciously robust gravy. This is undoubtedly a luxurious indulgence that which will bring smiles of satisfaction to any dining table.
Artfully arranged like a prosperity plant, the Chilled Asparagus ($20) served with sesame truffle dip was very much a refreshing delight. I was happily munching on the crunchy green spears before gasping at its price. Okay lah, it seemed justifiable after being told that the asparagus are of premium quality and specially flown in from USA.
Crystal Jade Kitchen
Popular among many customers for its affordable dim sum, noodles and congee bowls, Crystal Jade Kitchen's culinary team has conjured several highlights for this Lunar New Year.
The Thai-style Pork Knuckle ($28) was a hearty slab of tender meaty goodness coated with zesty mango sweet and sour sauce. We also enjoyed the Sautéed Scallop & Coral Mussel with XO Sauce ($28), a dish that looked simple yet expertly executed with succulent scallops and fresh greens. It was my first time eating coral mussel and I must say the slight crunch of it was very pleasant.
Other dishes to look out for includes the comforting Fried Glutinous Rice topped with Roasted Duck ($36) and Braised Three-head Abalone in Superior Oyster Sauce ($48 per pax).
Various set menus for 4 to 10 pax are available at all outlets.
Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao
Famous for its plump and juicy steamed dumplings, Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao is introducing the Steamed Herbal Xiao Long Bao ($6 for 4 pieces), a new flavor especially for this CNY! The subtle herbal taste of Angelica root coupled with a tinge of sweetness from the wolfberry was very agreeable to my palate.
Other auspicious picks include Braised Pork Knuckle with Black Moss ($36.80) and Eight Treasures Glutinous Rice ($10.80).
For desserts, do not miss the Steamed Pumpkin Glutinous Rice Ball with Bean Paste ($4.80 for 3pcs). Love the rice ball's chewy QQ texture filled with just about the right note of sweetness from the red bean paste.
The latest addition to the group, Crystal Jade Prestige (MBFC Ground Plaza #02-01) is described to be a celebration of the very finest ingredients and regional specialties prepared with visionary culinary flair, drawing on the cuisines of distinctive Chinese provinces and embracing modern gastronomic techniques.
Something exclusive to the outlet is the Double-boiled Water Chestnut with Egg White. It kind of resemble the homey egg drop soup, but of course this is a chilled dessert variant. Love the bites of aloe vera and crunchy water chestnut in the sweet soup.
Reservations for Chinese New Year dining can be made through the respective restaurants.
