Hurry for curry! That what I did when I heard that IPPUDO Singapore has launched its latest seasonal ramen - Rich Curry Tonkotsu Ramen - just a few days ago on 15th March.
First thing first, this is not your usual Japanese curry that's typically sweet. The spicy bowl is specially created for the Singapore palate, combining three different types of Japanese curry, and the rich spices of South India (masala, cumin seeds, and cayenne peppers) with IPPUDO's signature tonkotsu broth.
True to expectations, the resultant bowl is full of hearty flavors. Even before I tucked into my bowl, I was already intoxicated with its wonderful aroma which somehow strongly reminds me of.....
Curry-flavored noodles from a certain instant noodle brand which I've been eating since young! Lol!
Not that I mind it because #pinkypiggulovesinstantnoodles, and besides the bowl at IPPUDO is definitely an elevated version that's painstaking-prepared with their luscious pork bone broth.
Looking at the broth's vibrant red colour, we imagined it to be super hot, but surprisingly the spicy level is comfortable even for my friends who can't really take spicy food. Those who love a fiery challenge might find this to have "not enough kick".
The thick, flat noodle soaked up the richness of the broth really well, yet retained a delightful, firm bite. Love the toppings of crunchy fried burdocks roots, spinach and tamago too. Can't say the same for chashu which was a tad too sweet because of the barbecue sauce.
Overall, I enjoyed the rich curry tonkotsu ramen. Should have taken a picture of my empty bowl as proof haha.
This seasonal ramen is available at $17++* per bowl from 15th March till end-May 2019 at all IPPUDO outlets except IPPUDO Shaw Centre outlet, and IPPUDO Express outlets at Asia Square, Changi Airport Terminal 1 & 2. While stocks last. Limited number of bowls are available daily at each store.
