Park Hotel Clarke Quay ~ Usher In The Year Of The Pig With An Abundant Feast For CNY 2019!

Very soon, it will be bye bye to the Year of Dog 2018, and hello to the Year of Pig 2019.

I enjoyed the Chinese New Year menu at Park Hotel Clarke Quay previously, so am back to check out the offerings that Chef James Wong has planned for the coming year.

Symbolising an abundance of good fortune, success, wealth, health and joy, the CNY menu will be available from 25th January to 19th February 2019.

Our dinner started off with the Auspicious Abundance Yu Sheng, a glorious platter of yabbies and parma ham paired with purple and white cabbage, green and white radish, kaffir leaves, fresh pomelo, pickled ginger, lime, and homemade plum sauce.

While the small freshwater crayfish made the prosperity toss dish look especially attractive, its shell made it rather difficult to eat and the pairing with parma ham didn't really work.

We were slightly disappointed but that feeling left quickly as the traditional favourite Superior Braised Shark's Fin Soup with Crab Meat & Homemade Stuffed Crab Claw made a return. Guests can also opt for the 8-Treasure Soup served with crabmeat, conpoy, fish maw, sea cucumber, abalone, fish lips, golden mushroom, and Chinese mushrooms as alternative.

The Money Bag won over quite a number of fans too with its plump, golden brown beancurd pockets stuffed with succulent chicken, mushroom, bamboo shoot, and Jin Hua Ham, one of the world's best-cured meats.

Other highlights include Steamed Red Garoupa with Chinese Mushroom & Dry-Cured Jin Hua Ham, Stir-fried XO Seafood which features stired-fried scallops, fresh prawns and squid in XO sauce served in a crispy yam basket, and Steamed Fragrant Rice in Lotus Leaf with duck meat, Chinese sausage, egg white, salted egg and root vegetables.

We ended with Chilled Coconut Pudding with Passion Fruit Pearls, a light and refreshing dessert which is perfect after the satisfying and rather heavy CNY meal.
