Alley On 25 @ Andaz Singapore Hotel ~ A Look At All Its Dining Concepts Have To Offer!

Many of us were not aware that Andaz Singapore Hotel is already opened until we heard about Alley On 25, its all-day dining venue with a bar, a lounge and 5 different dining concepts! Haha, we're undeniably foodies first and foremost!

A luxury lifestyle hotel brand by Hyatt, the property sits on level 25 to 39 of the DUO Tower, and is surrounded by the historic Kampong Glam and iconic Marina Bay area. Its location is also very convenient to get to, being directly connected to Bugis MRT Station (EW12/DT14).

Boasting of 342 guestrooms and suites, four event venues and F&B outlets with stunning view of the city, visitors can can enjoy the hotel, have a swim in the infinity pool, work out in the 24-hour fitness centre, have a drink in the rooftop bar or experience street dining in the sky. Omg I want a staycation here lol!

Alley on 25 sits on level 25 of the hotel, offering sky high dining with panorama city views.

Inspired by the surrounding neighborhoods of Kampong Glam, Little India and Bras Basah Bugis, its layout aims to mirror those intimate shophouse-filled alleyways which are full of nooks and surprise finds at each turn.

While interesting, it can be a tad confusing especially for first-time visitors. Walk through the entire premise before locating the restaurant you're looking for? Not an unlikely situation unfortunately.

But view it as an exploration, you'd discover dining concepts that are out-of-the-norm. Instead of the typical cuisine classification, each restaurant specializes in a particular style of food preparation.

To provide affordable, value-driven options for the office crowd, Alley on 25 will serve sets lunches that include appetizers and mains for $25.

Let's take a look at what Auntie's Wok and Steam, Plancha'Lah, Smoke & Pepper, The Green Oven, Icehaus, Bar Square and Sunroom has to offer.

Auntie's Wok and Steam

An ode to Singapore's tze char food culture, with Szechuan influences.

Offering a host of dim sum, as well as rice, meat and hand-pulled noodles dishes with a Szechuan twist, the menu at Auntie's Wok and Steam certainly satisfies our appetite for variety. Highlights include Ma Po Silken Tofu with Alaskan King Crab ($30), and the Double-boiled Beef Short Rib Noodles ($18) which we love for its robust spicy Szechuan broth, tender beef chunks and springy egg noodles that are made in-house.

The Steamed Eggplant with Silken Tofu ($14), Crispy Organic Cucumbers ($9), and Jiao Zi Dumplings filled with Tiger Prawn & Chicken ($12 for 8pcs) are also not to be missed. Diners can also choose sustainably-sourced live seafood from fish tanks, and watch as chefs prepare their catches at wok and steamer stations in the open kitchen.

Breakfast Weekdays 6.30am-10.30pm & Weekends 7am-11am | Lunch Daily 12pm-2.30pm | Dinner 6pm-10pm

Plancha'Lah!

Up-close-and-personal culinary action over hot plate.

"Plancha" means flattop grill in Spanish, while "lah" is an endearing Singlish touch to the restaurant's name. Specializing in dishes prepared on the hot plate, Plancha'Lah grills up a wide repertoire including Japanese Fruit Tomato with pine nuts in balsamic dressing, Atlantic Cod en Papillote with shimeiji mushroom, and Kurobuta Pork Chop paired with Fuji apple purée.

There are three 5-course sets available for dinner service only: Vegetarian Set $108++, Set Dinner 1 $118++ and Set Dinner 2 $148++.

 Dinner Daily 6pm-10pm

Smoke & Pepper

Modern-Asia barbecue fare prepared over an open charcoal grill.

Smoke & Pepper is the largest dining destination at Alley on 25 that focuses on Asian-inspired barbecue specialties such as Black Angus Beef Skewer ($35), Spiced Fish Burger ($17), Squid with green chili and shiso pesto ($18), and Diver Scallops with garlic-sesame butter ($15 per piece). All are prepared from a show grill kitchen.

Though the few recommended items that we've tried appeared to be crowd-pleasing favorites, the food was generally lacking in execution (too salty, less-than-ideal texture), making this our least favorite outlet. Hope with some time and tweaking, improvement will come.

Lunch 12pm-2.30pm | Dinner 6pm-10pm | Closed on Sundays and Mondays

The Green Oven
Comfortable, hearty meals with a twist, prepared from a single green Beech oven.

Classic international favorites such as Braised Osso Buco ($35), Half Spring Chicken ($25), Braised Lamb Shank ($35), and Violet Eggplant ($20) rules at The Green Oven. These are the kind of family-style dishes which are comforting, generous in portion and best for sharing (which we did hehee).

Besides the above-mentioned dishes, my dining companions were also singing praising of the Lobster Mac & Cheese ($35) which I was too stuffed to fully appreciate its goodness. Looks like I must make a return trip soon!

For breakfast, the menu offers an array of egg dishes prepared in various styles, and served with Tiong Bahru Bakery's signature sourdough toast. Eggs used are fresh, cage-free chicken eggs.

Breakfast Weekdays 6.30am-10.30am & Weekends 7am-11am | Lunch Daily 12pm-2.30pm | Dinner 6pm-10pm

Icehaus

Light and easy dining, including cold cuts and sustainable seafood.

Inspired by the kitchens of a bygone, pre-electricity era when food was kept cool in wooden cabinets filled with ice slabs, Icehaus showcases dishes prepared in a cold kitchen, offering a selection of charcuterie, seafood, salads, sandwiches and desserts.

One thing which I feel you shouldn't missed here is the Andaz Chendol Pop ($10). A special collaboration with Neh Neh Pop that is owned by local celebrity Chef Bjorn Shen, the popsicle is a lovely concoction of gula melaka coconut ice cream and red-bean caramel in a coat of pandan-flavored white chocolate. Super duper enjoyable!

Another of Icehaus's signature desserts is the Pandan Chiffon Cake (small $4.50 / medium $12 / large $32) which is a tribute to the unofficial national cake of Singapore. Combined with velvety mousse and dressed in vibrant colors, chiffon cake flavors include pandan, bandung, chocolate, banana, durian, coconut, black sesame, yam and coconut.

A place of relaxation in a fluid, residential-inspired environment. Guests can order a variety of signature dishes from the various outlets of Alley on 25.
