Teppanyaki Hamburg Nihonbashui Keisuke Bettei @ Peck Seah Street, Tanjong Pagar ~ Delicious Japanese-Style Beef Hamburg Steaks, Amazing Salad Bar & Egg Station!

For fans of Ramen Chef Keisuke Takeda, 13th March 2017 would be the date to note as the 12th addition to his impressive chain of dining concepts - Teppanyaki Hamburg Nihonbashui Keisuke Bettei - will be opened.

The name of the restaurant is quite a mouthful I know haha! That aside, you really wouldn't want to miss the delight of savoring those delicious Japanese-style beef hamburg steaks in your mouth.

Saying this because I've been craving for the hamburg steaks since tasting it a couple of days ago during the preview session. Those slabs of meaty goodness coupled with unlimited servings of salads and eggs were simply..... unforgettable!

Located in a shophouse unit along Peck Seah Street, Teppanyaki Hamburg Nihonbashui Keisuke Bettei is just a stone's throw away from other Chef Keisuke's establishments in the vicinity namely, Tonkotsu King (Orchid Hotel), Takeda Shoten Sake Bar (Orchard Hotel), Gyoza King (Orchid Hotel), Tendon Ginza Itsuki (Tanjong Pagar Road), and Tori King (100AM).

From ramen, bar bites to gyoza and tendon, and now hamburg steak!

We certainly can get a considerable variety of Chef Keisuke's offerings just in this "Keisuke turf" alone.

Though it is not a great surprise to see the focus to be on hamburg steak as it is one of Japan's most well-loved national dish, Hamburg Steak Keisuke could possibly be the first of its kind in Singapore.

Menu is kept concise with just two main dishes, the Keisuke Prime Beef Hamburg Set ($18.80++) and the Triple Cheese Prime Beef Hamburg Set ($20.80++).

The hamburg set can be paired with a sauce of your choice: Keisuke Original Sauce (soya base), Teriyaki Mayonnaise Sauce, Demiglas Sauce, or Oroshi Ponzu (grated radish & citrus soya vinegar sauce).

Each order comes with Rice, Miso soup, as well as free-flow of Salads and Eggs!

Understandably, no sharing is allowed, and there is a required minimum one order per person.

While waiting for my hamburg set to be served, I went giddy with excitement at the salads and eggs buffet which we can help ourselves to at the Salad Bar and Egg Station.

The salad bar was epic!

We are talking about a rotating line-up which features 20 items daily! Variety, freshness and quality are definitely there.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Momotaro Tomatoes (prized in Japan for its sweetness) among the spread as well. The Cha Soba Salad and Sapporo Ramen Salad were standouts too. Cut Fruits and Coffee Jelly are also available for dessert.

How do you want your eggs? Fried, Deep-fried, Sunny-side-up, Boiled, Half-boiled, Scrambled, Plain Omelet or Tamago-yaki (rolled omelet)? There is definitely no lack of choices here. Perhaps we can even ask for poached eggs too!

Being a salad and egg lover, it was way too easy to get carried away lol! But the attention soon turned back to the hamburg steaks when it arrived at our table.

The hamburg steaks are made with prime US beef shoulder, freshly-grounded and hand-formed into hamburg patties of 150g or 180g each. It is then seared on teppanyaki grill and served sizzling on hotplates.

Texture of the hamburg was fantastic!

The patty was packed to an ideal density, and cooked to such tenderness that it fell easily apart at the gentle prod of our chopsticks. No knife needed here.

Each bite was wondrously juicy and tasty. I later learned that the beef is minced into two sizes such that when mixed together, it will provide optimum bite and texture. True that!

Between the prime beef hamburg and cheese prime beef hamburg, my preference is for the latter as the patty is stuffed with a medley of cheddar, mozzarella and parmesan cheese!

The molten center of oozy cheese upped the oomph factor even further. Oishii!!!!

If it is a case of "hamburg no enough" for you, Additional Patty can be added at $10.80++ (prime beef) or $12.80++ (cheese prime beef) each.

Sides of Ebi Furai (fried shrimp), strips of Aburaage (fried beancurd) and Tofu topped with bonito flakes were commendable too.

The newly-introduced Sakura Cola ($3.80) is so kirei in pink and perfectly refreshing to wash the meal down with it.

Chef Keisuke impresses once again. Not only is the concept of Teppanyaki Hamburg Nihonbashui Keisuke Bettei original, everything on the menu from the hamburg to the salad and eggs were well-designed and excellently-executed.

Given the affordability of a meal here, and that the restaurant does not take reservations, it is not difficult to predict that queues will start forming once the restaurant opens.

  1. Its not just the food which matters but the location and the environment also matter when you go out for dinning.
