Kko Kko Nara Opens New Outlet, Kko Kko Chicken Bar @ Kandahar Street ~ Go Go Go For Korean Fried Chicken & Budae Jjigae Goodness!

Kko Kko Nara at Tanjong Pagar just got a new franchise outlet! It's called Kko Kko Chicken Bar!

Recently opened in March at Kandahar Street, the Korean chicken specialty shop seemed oddly out of place in the cultural enclave of Kampong Glam which is known more for local delicacies and Middle-Eastern cuisine, but I guess it offers an alternate choice especially when craving for Korean Fried Chicken strikes.

Pleased to say we were struck with satisfaction by the yummy fried chicken and delicious budae jjigae (army stew) during our visit.

Tea Valley @ The Central, Clarke Quay ~ Offering Taiwanese Food At Affordable Prices

Tea Valley
is a simple eatery located at the basement of The Central, Clarke Quay that could be often overlooked by diners due to its small presence amongst the bigger shop fronts. Do not be mislead (like us) by its nondescript appearance as they do serve a rather impressive array of food.

Focusing on Taiwan street snacks as well as hot dishes at affordable prices, diners can satisfy their Taiwanese food craving without breaking the bank. The casual establishment serves a total of 16 mains and 12 snacks paired with a wide range of beverages using high quality Taiwanese tea leaves.

Besides this branch at The Central, there are also other outlets at Chevron House, Downtown East and POMO.

HONEY BUTTER CHIPS! Where To Buy The Popular Snacks In Singapore? Find Out Here! (with new updates)

We cannot get a piece of swoon-worthy Korean hottie Song Joong-ki (Descendents Of The Sun) except through our smartphone/laptop/TV screen, but here's the consolation….. we can still get a bite of those immensely pleasing Korean HONEY BUTTER CHIPS goodness in Singapore.

Intense in buttery flavor with a distinct note of honey, the formidable pairing of sweet and savory has captured the affections of numerous tastebuds. PinkyPiggu included! Lol!

Though Calbee launched the chips in Japan in 2012, it did not take off in terms of popularity until the collaboration with Haitai saw its debut in Korea 2 years later, creating a honey butter craze that swept across Korea and beyond.

Extremely well-received, it is said that even getting the Haitai-Calbee Honey Butter Chips in Korea itself can be quite a challenge. How do we get a taste of it in Singapore then?

Getting friends traveling to Korea to try their luck in bringing a few packs back? Or paying exhorbitant prices to certain online stores? The best thing would be to direct purchase it off the shelves of course.

Here's sharing where I managed to find Honey Butter Chips in Singapore, both the original version as well as similar products offered by competitor brands. If you know where else to get it too, or know of any other honey butter snacks that's worth try, do please let us know by leaving a comment below :D

The Grand Astor Afternoon Tea At Brasserie Les Saveurs, The St. Regis Singapore

Writing this post on a lovely afternoon, while reminiscing about the lovely Grand Astor Afternoon Tea we had sometime back at Brasserie Les Saveurs, The St, Regis Singapore.

Inspired by Caroline Astor (mother of St. Regis founder John Jacob Astor IV) who is known for holding dignified afternoon tea gatherings at her house, the scrumptious spread offered at the elegantly-decked brasserie celebrates this cherished ritual with much mouth-watering delights.

Pompompurin Café Singapore Opens At Orchard Central ~ Cuteness Overload!

One doesn't need to be a dog lover to be attracted to the cuteness of Pompompurin! Kawaii!!! かわいい!!!

The good-natured yellow golden retriever dog character with its trademark brown beret by Sanrio might not be as famous as its counterparts like Hello Kitty, My Melody or Little Twin Stars, but look at its impossibly huggable appearance which coo "I'm just as adorable too!" Awwwwwwwww! XOXO

Pompompurin is actually very popular in its homeland Japan. It won 1st place in Sanrio Character ranking for 2015, and even has its own Facebook page! To have cafés dedicated to this cutie doggy is just a matter of time.

After Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong, Singapore is the next country to play host to Pompompurin Café.

Da Luca Italian Restaurant @ Goldhill Plaza, Novena ~ One Of My Best Meals Of The Year! Highly Recommended!

My first visit to Da Luca Italian Restaurant was made out of curiosity and… necessity?

Necessity because I was working on a guide to feature the Best Angel Hair Pasta in Singapore when research on Instagram brought me to Da Luca's page where pictures of the chilled pasta dominates. The dish's popularity is unquestionable, and overall reviews have been positive for this restaurant which has been serving up Italian fare since October 2010. Yet it seems to remain largely under the radar among my discerning foodie friends.

Da Luca? What? Where? Will it “WOW” us?

My interest was piqued. It was imperative to check out this Italian joint located at Goldhill Plaza (next to United Square, nearest mrt station: NS20 Novena)

And….. Oh my goodness, this is a G.E.M. found!

Lin <林> Rooftop Bar @ Link Hotel, Tiong Bahru ~ Eat & Drink Under The Stars

Lin <林>, a contemporary Asian rooftop bar, is located in the heart of Tiong Bahru Road's Link Hotel overlooking charming pre-war era shophouses. The current heat wave may scare people off outdoor dining but thankfully, the management has installed huge cooler fans for the comfort of the diners.

Short for 'Shu-Lin' which means 'forest' in Mandarin, Lin prides itself on giving its drinks an interesting Asian twist by including ingredients such as chili padi, lime infused plums, dragon fruit and Chinese dates.

On top of serving a full range of cocktails, wines and beers, Lin rooftop bar also offers a complete menu of tapas and mains, establishing itself as a one stop destination for a date night or to chill out after work.

For a true-blue foodie, the first thing that comes to mind when "Oscar" is mentioned will not be the annual Academy Awards which recognizes excellence in cinematic achievements, but the sumptuous buffet spread at Conrad Centennial Singapore's all-day dining restaurant.

Sumptuous, definitely. The newly-revamped Oscar has now upped the game by supercharging their Sunday brunch! BEST ANGEL HAIR PASTA In Singapore! Served Chilled Or Warm, Here Are 22 Places To Try!

After 25 Beef Bowls and 33 Different Foie Gras Dishes, my friends thought I'm a bit crazy to embark on a quest for 22 BEST ANGEL HAIR PASTA in Singapore.

"Aren't you currently on #pinkypiggu100daysof salad diet?" Haha, well yes, but those flowing strands of slender angel hair are just too irresistible.

Being thinner and lighter in texture, angel hair couples better with delicate sauces. More often than not, it is served chilled and infused with flavors of kombu, chives and truffle oil at most establishments. Given the current spell of rising temperatures, a plate of chilled angel hair would be a most suitable "summer dish" to have. Shall we fancify it with caviar, uni (sea urchin), or oysters? Yes! Yes! Yes!

This guide also includes warm versions of the dish, as well as capellini which is said to be just a wee thicker than angel hair. PinkyPiggu's personal Best 5 Angel Hair Pasta is revealed at end of post.

Let's start our angel hair journey here!
