On-Yasai Shabu Shabu @ Chijmes ~ Super Satisfying Japanese Hot Pot Buffet!

温野菜 "On-Yasai" literally means "warm vegetables" in Japanese, but the name of this Japanese shabu shabu restaurant signifies a deeper meaning of wanting to create a 温 On (warm food and heart-warming service), 野 Ya (healthy and fresh) , 菜 Sai (wide variety of appetizer/vegetables) experience for their customers.

With over 300 outlets, On-Yasai is considered to be the largest shabu shabu chain in Japan. Chijmes and OneKM Mall are their first two Singapore outposts.

We were at the Chijmes branch for a hot pot dinner on a rainy evening, and it was a super satisfying, yummilicious meal indeed.

Anti:Dote @ Fairmont Singapore ~ A Delightful Afternoon Tea Experience

My first time to Anti:Dote at Fairmont Singapore was specially to try their innovative foie gras tapas, and it left an indelible delicious memory.

So it was a natural decision to make a return visit to the modern cocktail bar when we did a weekend staycation at the hotel recently. Anti:Dote's other offerings were calling out to me! Lol!

This time round, we went for their Afternoon Tea which has garnered quite a bit of positive reviews from what I read online. Our own experience wasn't too bad at all too.

Fu Lin Men Dou Lao 福临门豆捞 @ North Canal Road ~ Not Your Usual Hot Pot Place

"Hot Pot" or "Steamboat" 火锅, isn't it simply a meal of cooking a variety of ingredients in a pot of simmering broth set at the table top?

Apparently, there is more to it, as we tucked into the "Duo Lao" 豆捞 cuisine that is supposedly widely acknowledged as the "royals" of hot pots in modern China because it focuses on improving one's health and vitality through food.

In Singapore, Fu Lin Men 福临门 (which symbolizes fortune bestowed upon one's home) along North Canal Road is the place to go to for a taste of this "duo lao hot pot" experience.

Seorae Singapore @ Plaza Singapura ~ For That Korean Charcoal BBQ Experience. Go For The Meat.

We can never have enough of Korean BBQ! So we made our way to Seorae, a restaurant-chain from Korea that has opened its first franchise store in Singapore at Plaza Singapura.

What differentiates Sorea from most other Korean BBQ joints is that it specializes in "Galmaegisal", an unique cut also known as "pork skirt meat".

Found between the ribs and belly, each fully-grown pig produces only 250 grams of such meat. It is so good and rare that this meat is said to be reserved exclusively for Korean royalty in ancient times.

Seorae Singapore now offers this "Eat Like A King!" (to quote their slogan) dining experience to all!

Kite @ Craig Road, Tanjong Pagar ~ A Restro-Bar That Serves Modern-Asian Comfort Fare

Back once again at the Tanjong Pagar area for food! The choice of grub this time is from Kite, a cosy establishment nestled among the row of shophouses along Craig Road (opposite PerBacco Italian, a stone's throw away from Twins Korean Fried Chicken).

As Nat, my fellow blogger friend is the one who decided on the place, I simply showed up during dinner without knowing what to expect.

When I learned that Kite serves Modern-Asian comfort fare in small plates, somewhat like tapas and dim sum style, my first thought was, "aiyoh, 吃得饱吗? (filling enough or not?)"

Kai Garden Cantonese Restaurant 嘉苑 @ Marina Square ~ Worth The Repeated Visits. Ooh... That Peking Duck!

Fans of Cantonese cuisine, here's another restaurant for you to check out: Kai Garden 嘉苑.

The dining establishment was recently opened in December last year, and nestled in the newly revamped wing of Marina Square shopping mall. Its draw lies not only in the sumptuous delicacies that it has set out to deliver, but I also want to see what deliciousness owner & Executive Chef Fung Chi Keung has up his sleeves.

If the name rings a bell to you as well, Hong Kong-born Chef Fung is the award-winning culinary master previously of highly acclaimed Paradise Group and Xin Yue. He believes that there is still so much to discover about food, and want to create new and memorable experiences for the diners.

Well-known Naughty Nuri's Opens At Singapore's Capitol Piazza! Best Pork Ribs In Town?

Naughty Nuri's, the popular grill house from Ubud (a small town in Indonesia's Bali) with over 10 locations in Asia, has finally made its way onto our shores!

For the uninitiated, Naughty Nuri's is said to serve one of the best BBQ pork ribs in Bali, well-known for their "wicked ribs" and "killer martinis". Most visitors to Bali would not give this supposedly pork ribs lovers' paradise a miss.

We all love to get naughty, don't we? :p

PerBacco Italian Restaurant @ Craig Road, Tanjong Pagar ~ Eat, Drink, Be Merry

It was a first visit to PerBacco, yet another restaurant sitting amid the many others along Craig Road in the Tanjong Pagar vicinity. For me who have a love-relationship with carbs but still gobbles down her pasta unreservedly, the presence of this Italian joint is certainly not a complaint.

But of course, this casual yet chic establishment is more than just about pasta. There is a refreshed element with the spotlight specially falling on wholesome Northern regional specialties.

"PerBacco" (means "of Bacchus" in Italian) pays homage to the mythical God of wine and merrymaking, both of which are encouraged at the restaurant.

Founder Bak Kut Teh @ Hotel Boss ~ New Outlet By The Famous Pork Rib Soup Restaurant At Balestier Road

Mention Bak Kut Teh, Founder at Balestier Road is one that initiated this PinkyPiggu into the Teochew-style pork rib soup's joy of sweating-inducing peppery shiokness many years back and holds much fond memories. Need a quick supper? Let's go Founder Bak Kut Teh!

When I was told that the recent opening (21st Jan 2016) at Hotel Boss along Jalan Sultan is their 2nd outlet, I was puzzled.

"Huh you mean the branch at Rangoon Road isn't legit?"

Jollibee Singapore ~ Popular Fried Chicken Place At Lucky Plaza Opens 2 New Outlets At Square 2 (Novena) & Changi City Point

After 2 years of arriving in Singapore and satisfying the crowds with fried chicken at their "perpetually-long queue" outlets at Lucky Plaza, Jollibee Singapore finally ventures out of Orchard Road to Square 2 (Novena) and far far east Changi City Point.

By now, most of us would probably not be unfamiliar with this popular fast food restaurant chain that hails from Philippines. It has more than 800 branches worldwide, best known for their ChickenJoy (fried chicken), YumBurgers (burgers), Jolly Spaghetti and Rice Meal.

Oh My Tian! What A Whimsical Cafe At Whampoa West!

"Oh My Tian!" "Oh My 天!" An euphemism of "Oh My God" which we usually use to express shock or surprise is now the name of a cafe! Oh my tian, it's for real.

That's the exclamation Oh My Tian's owners hope to hear from us, the customers, as we step into their fantasy-turned-reality world.

Located at Whampoa West, OMT is literally a new kid on the block, being nestled at the ground level of a HDB block that is a convenient 2 minutes walk from Boon Keng (NE9) mrt station. Very near to Lau Ah Tee Bak Kut Teh too.

Antoinette At Penhas Road Rolls Out Salted Egg Lava Croissant!

It is with great excitement very time I make my way to Antoinette Restaurant for Chef Pang Kok Keong’s sweet creations and savory dishes, but even more so this time because the outlet at Penhas Road is launching….. SALTED EGG LAVA CROISSANT!

After the food-trend-of-the-moment started appearing in neighboring JB's Seven Oaks Bakery recently, it was quickly followed by a version from Flavors Fling Café in Singapore. Today, Antoinette is rolling out their rendition too.

Doesn’t matter where it originated from (most say Hong Kong?) or who is first to launch it locally. Ultimately, it’s the taste that matters. And I can tell you the Salted Egg Lava Croissant from Antoinette tasted AWESOME!
