Writing this post on a lovely afternoon, while reminiscing about the lovely Grand Astor Afternoon Tea we had sometime back at Brasserie Les Saveurs, The St, Regis Singapore.
Inspired by Caroline Astor (mother of St. Regis founder John Jacob Astor IV) who is known for holding dignified afternoon tea gatherings at her house, the scrumptious spread offered at the elegantly-decked brasserie celebrates this cherished ritual with much mouth-watering delights.
That includes a quintessential three-tiered silver stand loaded with classic finger sandwiches such as Smoked Salmon, Egg & Mayonnaise, Tomato, Cucumber & Cream Cheese, and savory treats including the very unique Duck Foie Gras Profiteroles (my favorite!), Asparagus & Smoked Salmon Quiche, Prawn, Lobster & Tarragon Cup Pie.
I especially enjoyed the medley of sweet delights comprising of Raspberry Tart, Mocha Éclair, Homemade Chocolate Praline and Crème Caramel with Orange Compote.
Wait, there's more! As we head over to the buffet section, an assortment of freshly-baked Sweet and Savory Scones, as well as an array of tantalizing desserts awaits. Do not miss the Waffles and Crepes that are prepared à la minute too at the live station.
A fine selection of TWG tea is also included as part of the afternoon enjoyment. The highly recommended choice would be the St. Regis Singapore Blend which is a green and black tea blend with rich, malty notes of white chocolate and nuts. White rose and jasmine blossoms suffuse the tea with a quiet floral aftertaste. Totally my kind of beverage.
And Brasserie Les Saveurs is totally my ideal kind of place to spend the afternoon in a relaxing and delicious way.
The Grand Astor Afternoon Tea is available as follows:
- Monday to Saturday, 3pm to 5pm
- Sunday, 4pm to 6pm
- $49++ per person from Monday to Friday
- $53++ per person on Saturday and Sunday
