Hello October! The first day of the month started with the official opening of Singapore's first MOS Café at Raffles City Shopping Centre!
Best know for their burgers, popular fast-food chain MOS now introduces an expanded menu at their café. I've always been fond of MOS Teriyaki Chicken Burger ($3.55), Yakiniku Rice Burger ($3.90) and side treats such as MOS Chicken ($2.90), and is glad that we can still find these and more at their latest concept store.
So, what's new?
Well, for a start, there is this Tokyo Tower-inspired Wagyu Tower Burger ($8.95) standing tall with double beef patties, cheese, tomatoes in between soft toasted bun. Adequately pleasing and definitely a more hearty version compared to their usual dainty-sized burgers.
Tortilla Salad ($4 to $5.70) and Rice Bowl ($5.95 to $6.90) are also new additions. We were not really impressed with the Chicken Vegetables Curry Rice ($5.95) though. More gravy than meat, but for its price, still acceptable lah. I like it that the gravy has a tinge more spiciness than the typical Japanese curry.
Dessert offerings include selections such as French Toast ($5.95, available 2pm-6pm), Matcha Mini Parfait ($3.95), as well as Matcha Roll Cake ($4.40). The cake could do with more moisture.
Generally, the sweetness level is on the high side. You should have seen the scrunched-up look on my dining companion when he took his first sip of Special Fruit Tea ($4.50). The Vegetable Smoothie ($3.80) was strangely overwhelmed by taste of banana.
Other than having more food options, dining in MOS Café felt no different from having a meal at any of the existing MOS Burger outlets. More fast food than café. Come with your expectations managed.
