海底捞火锅 HaiDiLao Hot Pot @ Clarke Quay ~ A Place Which Pampers, Entertains & Satisfies!

Updated May 2014: New branch at 313@Somerset (address included)

You realized you're getting on in age when Saturdays need not be 'happening' anymore. There's no need for a day filled with activities or late night suppers, all I wanna do is curl up in bed with a book, or do some blogging. But when my friends asked me out for dinner, there's no reason to say no right? Feeling a bit lazy though lol, but still, I made my way to Clarke Quay, where the rest of the girls were waiting for me to have a steamboat meal. But this time round, it's not just any mediocre, eat-all-you-can buffet-style steamboat. We were going to have 海底火锅 HaiDiLao Hot Pot, which has been garnering rave reviews for their excellent service and quality food!

The Lawn Grill & Salad Café ~ Now At Shenton Way!

The Lawn Grill & Salad Café changed my perception of salads totally when I first visited their outlet at Biopolis last year. Mention store-bought salads and what comes to mind is usually heaps and heaps of greens with paltry pieces of cold cuts and insipid dressings, a necessity to fill my tummy with during times when my weighing machine turns into an enemy. Not that I don't like vegetables, but I need substantial portions of meat too. The Lawn fulfills this need perfectly by serving tantalizing premium meats grilled à la minute, pairing it with unique dressings at their salad bar. Ooh... Salads can make such an satisfying meal too! :D

Mooncake Appreciation @ Xin Cuisine, Holiday Inn Atrium

Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋节) is another few weeks away, but it's never too early to start the celebration with yummy mooncakes! Falling on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month when the moon is at its roundest, mid-autumn is traditionally a night where family members gather to appreciate the bright full moon while enjoying delectable mooncakes, a delicacy which has since became synonymous with the festival.

Must-Try! Dry Ban Mian (福州板面) At Toa Payoh Central!

I grew up in Toa Payoh, but if you ask me what nice food are there, you'd probably get a "I don't know" answer from me. Much thanks to my mum who always prepare delicious home-cooked meals for the family, so I don't really eat out, until I moved away.

My BFF was the one who told me about this stall called 福州板面 which serves up very 'shiok' bowls of Dry Ban Mian (板面干) in Toa Payoh Central. I asked him "how shiok?", he said "I don't know how to describe lah, you eat already then you know". Guess it's time to revisit my 'hometown' :p

Common Man Coffee Roasters @ Martin Road ~ The Place To Go For Aromatic Brews & Awesome Egg Benedicts!

Martin Road is a lot nearer to my office than I thought, as I walked towards Common Man Coffee Roasters, the latest gourmet coffee joint to hit town. Located just a stone's throw away from Robertson Quay, it serves not only aromatic brews, but a menu of scrumptious bistro-quality food as well.

Easily The Best BBQ Chicken Wings In Yishun!

Every time I make my way to the vicinity around Blk 925 in Yishun, there are a few things I must eat: Chicken Rice, Laksa and BBQ CHICKEN WINGS! Yes, I thought the BBQ chicken wings here are so nice that I'm putting a label of 'best' on it, which can be quite dangerous because almost inevitably, there would be differing views on what's best. I'm sure everyone would have their own preference, but before any of you guys starts throwing darts at me, I just wanna share with you the place where I think you can find the best BBQ chicken wings in Yishun :)

FLOCK ~ A Laid Back Family-Style Café @ Tiong Bahru

My friend is one person who is more critical than any food critics or bloggers I know. It'd be interesting to have him write a guest post, I imagine it to be brutally honest and laced with venomous doses of sarcasm. Would that actually make a blog post more interesting to read? Lol! Dear readers, please let me know! Anyway, when he said he's bringing me to Flock Café at Tiong Bahru for brunch, I reasoned that the place must be quite nice to warrant repeated visits from him, right? Ok lah, QC (quality check) passed. Let's go!

黑金 Kuro Kin Japanese Dining @ The Grandstand ~ A Makansutra Dinner

A deviation from the usual Chinese restaurants sent us plunging into the sea of Japanese cuisine for the July Makansutra dinner. It's my first time visit to 黑金 Kuro Kin Japanese Dining located at The Grandstand, Singapore's latest dining enclave which is situated away from town, yet made diner-friendly with shuttle bus services running from several pick-up points at frequent intervals.

Bull and Butcher ~ A New Casual Steakhouse At Plaza Singapura

It's traditional, but it's new, and it's taking the bull by the horns! I'm talking about Bull and Butcher, a new casual steakhouse which has just established its presence at the ground level of the newly renovated Plaza Singapura (taking over the space where Cafe Cartel used to be). Featuring a variety of signature cuts flown in from Australia and US all ready to be prepared over the impressive customized charcoal grill, yet remaining at reasonable prices without leaving much damage to the wallet, this 2-month young baby looks set to bulldoze its way into all the beef lovers' heart!

Samsui Ginger Chicken ~ A Perennial Favorite At Soup Restaurant 三盅两件

Most people would have heard of Soup Restaurant 三盅两件, a household name in the local dining scene best known for their home-cooked style Chinese fare and traditional double-boiled soup. With more than 10 outlets scattered throughout our island and having established their presence for years, I would be quite surprised if any of my friends are to tell me that they have never stepped their foot into one before. No, never? Really? Come come, let me bring you through this blogpost to their outlet in recently revamped Causeway Point :)

Craft Bakery & Café ~ A New Place To Chillax At Holland Village

Holland Village is becoming one of my favorite places to chillax on Sunday afternoons. One - Not only does the area has a good mix of restaurants, cafes and local delights, Two - It's very accessible via the circle line, just a stop away from where I attend church every week. I was quite keen to check out Craft Bakery & Café which opened its doors just 3 weeks ago, that I did not take up my friend’s suggestion of ramen (when the usual easy-going me would). The main reason why? Hehee, my mouth was itching for some molten chocolate cake by 3-Inch-Sin, who are the folks behind this new kid on the block.

Bar-Roque Grill ~ An Exciting New Restaurant @ Amara Hotel, Tanjong Pagar

It's always beautiful to have dreams. It's even more beautiful when the dream comes true. It's the most beautiful when your dream comes true with your loved one by your side! Executive Chef Stephane Istel (former executive chef of DB Bistro Moderne) and Kori Millar (former GM of Sky on 57) became the envious subject of many when they duet the dream opening of Bar-Roque Grill, a French inspired modern Rotisserie and Bar.

Together as co-owners and life partners, they weaved the Baroque era's melody of conviviality, feasting, enjoyment, pleasure on the table and love on the plate into Singapore's Tanjong Pagar area, right at the corner of Amara Hotel.

One Dim Sum Cafe (Yi Dian Xin) 一點心茶餐厅 @ Upper Paya Lebar Road, Serangoon

After a round of fulfilling shopping at Orchard Road, the next thing to do is to fill up my hungry tummy. With the crowds converging everywhere in town on the Friday evening, I'm so glad to have my friend picking me up and driving off to have a quiet and simple dinner at a place where we don't have to queue or worry that we're too dressed down to be seen. Dim sum sounded tempting and I was told that the Custard Bun at One Dim Sum Cafe 一點心茶餐厅 at Upper Paya Lebar Road, Serangoon is very good! Bring me there! Bring me there quick!

Bear Bites 熊の食 Singapore ~ Super Cute Taiwanese Bear Paw Burgers At *SCAPE!

We were planning to have fried chicken, but mention "Bear Burger", my attention was quickly shifted. So kawaii (cute) sounding, how would it look like? Well, in the realm of social media, nothing stays as a mystery for long and the answer was soon revealed through Instagram. The photo I saw was cuteness to the max!! I’m definitely gonna try this very photogenic burger!

Black Pepper Lobster and Hotpot Feast @ STREET 50 Restaurant & Bar, Bay Hotel

PinkyPiggu is back again at STREET 50 Restaurant & Bar, this time to enjoy a scrumptious Black Pepper Lobster and Hotpot Feast!

The most extravagantly celebrated event every August has to be the birthday of the nation! As we wait in anticipation for the dazzling display of fireworks in celebration of Singapore's 48th year of independence which is approaching soon, STREET 50 has already launched a special commemoratory dish, Black Pepper Lobster ($48++) which is just as spectacular in its own ways.
