Make-A-Wish Campaign ~ Wish Dish @ Majestic Restaurant



Eat well, do good, the Make-A-Wish Campaign is back! 8 DAYS Eat and 30 dining establishments are in support of this very worthy cause. The restaurants will be presenting their selected Wish Dish of the month and for each Wish Dish ordered, 50% of the proceeds will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation Singapore. The goal is to sell at least 10,000 Wish Dishes this October and the wish is to light up the lives of kids with life-threatening medical conditions. Let's all play a part in this very meaningful initiative!


All we have to do is to dine at any of the participating restaurants and order their Wish Dish. Over at Majestic Restaurant, Chef Yong Bing Ngen serves up nothing less than a trio of his signature dishes all on one platter. The Wish Dish comprises of Crispy Wasabi Prawn, Sliced Peking Duck and Pan Seared Foie Gras at only S$18++. Considering the quality of the food, I feel it's a small price to contribute for the bigger good it can do.


If I have to name a favorite from the platter, it would have to be the foie gras. Beautifully seared outside and wonderfully creamy inside, it's a surprise pairing with watermelon, but one which is refreshing and delightful. The peking duck is another enjoyment with its crisp skin lightly drizzled with a savory sweet sauce. I like the big crunchy prawn too, which pleased with its coat of wasabi that is adequate in flavor, yet not too overpowering.


The Majestic's Wish Dish can also be enjoyed with the other delicacies in the ala-carte or set menu. Together with dishes like Double-boiled Chicken Consommé ($12++) with fresh chinese yam and wolfberries, Steamed Fillet ($18++) of giant grouper with fragrant garlic oil and crystal vermicelli in light soya sauce, Stewed Mee Sua ($22++ for 2-4pax) with baby abalone and crab roe as well as desserts like Refreshing Homemade Sorbet ($8++) with aloe vera and grass jelly, it all adds up to a very substantial meal.
